Michigan is the MOST OVERATED program in the history of ad Woodsports. The 1 national title they were awarded they beat a sorry ass Wash St team. They should go back and give the Heisman to Peyton..I didnt watch the Heisman for 5 yrs after that. The media wont get off Mich's dick.Paper Champions in 1997..one of the reasons they started the BCS a yr later.Nebraska wouldve beat that 97 Woodson Mich team by 2 TD..when I saw a special on ESPN all time great coaches in cfb back in 1995 and they had Woody Hayes ( who was better than Bo..dont give fck what hid record was vs Bo either )and Bo Schembechler and didnt include the Bear I literally fell out of my chair laughing.Mich barely beat a dogshz Notre Dame that costed me a pkg then had a 100 yds vs a Va Tech team that had no business even being in Sugar.I wouldnt take Mich +20 vs Tide.I do like that lil Mich Qb but I got 3 words for Robinson Sept1st ..Ssnap,crack,pop..47-6 Bama..Big 10 are the biggest pussies..The U Should do a criminal investigation on how the refs blew that Nat champ in 2002.Big 10 has had less Nat Titles than SEC has in last 3 yrs in my life.Urban is gonna beat Mich 15 yrs in a row if he stays.

denard robinson  56% completion percentage vs the likes of northwestern and indiana lmao.  have fun with the world champions and the best coach in the country defending u.  bama has 3 all americans on the o line and will control clock and temp of the game.  robinson will not have any broken plays vs the speed of the best team from the SEC.

i have seen a tenative line of bama -11 and that is a mockery of a line.    bama -4 last year vs gators  how did that turn out fot the public faders?   lsu -4 vs mississippi state how did that turn out?     college football is a joke just pound square teams that should win and collect.  case in pount if u bet alabama and lsu blindly each week last year u went 25-4 i believe.

this is a classic mismatch  38-10 tide.   michigan crosses the 50 in garbage time.   will be funny to see how bad bama dominates both lines of scrimmage on both sides of the ball

I completely agree.  In the Alabama/Michigan prediction thread I predicted a final score of 38-6, so we're basically on the same page here.

This is the easist play on the board in week 1.

this game is going to be closer than people think.  bama wins by 10...big losses on D with kirkpatrick, upshaw and hightower not to mention its week 1 where they are susceptible and lots of crazy shit can happen  i.e. baylor over TCU,

tough for me to be objective here, but bama seems to be the square play here if this spread hits 14 or higher MICH is the pplay.  and yes i am aware that square plays do win also.

michfan- if ur squad covers ill give u mad props bro.   i credit michigan for sceduling this game. basically whoever loses has no chance at national title.   i like these teams who play big game outside conference and show some heart instead of playing louisana monroe at home the first game or what not

Alabama sets the tempo in the first half. Denard might not make it out of the game.

tough for me to be objective here, but bama seems to be the square play here if this spread hits 14 or higher MICH is the pplay.  and yes i am aware that square plays do win also.

Alabama may be the square play, but it will be the winning one.  That leads to the question; "can a winning play also be a square play???"  I don't know the answer to that question, but if square plays win me money, then I welcome squaredom.

Michigan will get destroyed in the trenches on both sides of the ball, which is the primary reason that, as collegegambler has correctly asserted, this won't be a competitive game.  This game is a mismatch on almost every level.

Alabama -12, in Dallas, without #3 overall RB Trent Richardson, who carried them to N.C.s in 2009 and 2011 (which your basing your opinion on ) is not the smartest thing in the world!

Who has all the pressure? Bama

Who has nothing to lose? Michigan

    Is Michigan gonna win? NO

Could they cover 12 in a run first, defensive battle? maybe

Will i mortgage my house over any WEEK 1 Game? Definately NOT!

    Here are the facts:
Michigan 5-1 vs the SEC in bowl games since 1999.
The big 10 is 95-89-7 all time vs the sec.
The big 10 is the only conference to hold a winning record against every other conference including the sec.
Only 2 conferences have posted 4 wins over top 15 ranked bcs teams in a single bowl Season, the big 10 in 1998 and again in 2009, the sec has never accomplished this.
Arguably the sec has been dominant the past 5 seasons but only at the top of the conference.  Top to bottom this is not the case.  The facts just don't support the notion that the sec is "the conference" and the big ten doesn't belong on the field with them.
As for this game, Bama is the obvious favorite but given Michigan's ability to perform in these types of match-ups against a favored sec opponent historically the stats just don't show them being blown off the field.  Bama may win this game but I would start the part just yet and don't spend the money, the math is not on your side on this one.
I'm obviously biased and pulling for the wolverines but also looking at the stats.  Anything over 14 and I'm on Mich.

What does past games years ago have any thing to do with this year's matchup?

This isn't your Daddy's UM team...

While I agree with this statement, other posters have used Bama's previous games over Big Ten teams as proof of their superiority.

While we know this isn't the U of M teams of past, we don't know if this Bama team is as talented as previous years either.

I know Bama, and more specifically Saban, have a history of being able to reload. Let's not forget how the season after Saban won his first title at Bama went. Also, don't forget that Brady Hoke only took two seasons to make San Diego State relevant as well.

My point is I am also not a fan of using games from ten years ago or even two years ago as examples of what could happen for this upcoming game. But you can't disqualify one sides argument for using past history then validate the other sides argument for using the same criteria.

My personal belief is that Bama can cover anything over ten, but anything over 14 I would consider Michigan. Especially if I can get those kind of points at plus money.

If you know any seriously passionate Bama fans I would look to wager with them. Their confidence/arrogance may lead them to give you more than 14 points at +150. Hell you can probably badger them into it.

Hoke won 9 games with the previous coach's players..

And of those 9 games, only two came against teams with more than 4 wins..

Not sure that made SDSU "relevant"

I think any program that wins 9 games after doing essentially nothing for about a decade before that does make a team relevant. Especially if it comes in a coaches second season with the program.

    https://www.totalfootballstats.com/Team_College.asp?id=128&Season=2010

I would call this team "relevant", especially considering their level of competition and where they came from. 9-4 with a bowl win. Look at their losses as well. 3 of the 4 were on the road against quality conference teams and none were by more than 5 points.

Once again getting back to the level of competition, I would say this is an impressive turn around. If this type of turn around happened in a BCS conference, this guy would be a candidate for coach of the year and people would be talking about that team as a conference/national title sleeper the following season.

I stated that Bama is clearly the favorite here.  I only sited history because the guy that started this thread was doing the same to claim the past dominance of the sec over the big 10 which statistically isn't true.  I'm not using history to bet this game but I will take 2 tds if I can get them.  Hoke is a quality coach and will soon earn some respect.  I simply don't think Bama blows Mich off the field. I think it will be closer than some of the arrogant over confident sec fans think.  3 weeks and we will find out.

I lived in Ann arbor in the Bo years so it was my team as well as dad's. Wish I was a little younger but no such luck.
