since a lot of people bring up the 2008 game:
played Houston right after losing to NCST last year---in OT, coming after 2 wins against VaTech and WV. that's 3 games against BCS opponents and came out flat against Houston and lost.
i would expect team remembers that and wants payback, bad.

This season's Pirate Defense has only given up more than 21 three times this season. Once to WVU who scored 35 and once to UNC who scored 31 including a late cosmetic touchdown.
Houston scores points, but I don't think it will be enough to overcome their completely atrocious defense.

GREENVILLE, N.C - Ticket sales for Saturday's Conference USA Championship Game between No. 18 Houston and host East Carolina have gotten off to a brisk start as requests have surpassed the 29,000 mark through the first two full days of business.
While the Pirate Club priority deadline ended Tuesday at 5 p.m., members can still purchase tickets beginning Wednesday morning. However, all remaining reserved seat tickets are now available on a first-come, first-serve basis to the general public.
Wednesday is also the last day for students to retain priority on the student ticket block. Student tickets can be picked up at either Minges Coliseum Box Office or at the Mendenhall Student Center.
All tickets orders received Thursday or after can be picked up at the ECU Athletics Ticket Office or at Will-Call Saturday morning.
Tickets can be ordered online at www.ECUPirates.com, in-person at the ticket office or by phone at 1-800-342-5328 (DIAL-ECU). The ECU Athletics Ticket Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
The Minges Coliseum Box Office will open at 8 a.m. Saturday with kickoff to follow at 12 noon.

Holtz just said on his call in show that the Pirates were going to "burn the boats".
So you may be asking how in the world do the "burning boats" come into this commentary?
In 1519, Capitan Hernando Cortes and a small army left Cuba and set out to conquer Central America. Cortes was going to accomplish his goals, no matter the consequences. The myth states that once Cortes' troops landed in what is now Mexico, he ordered the ships destroyed by fire.
In burning his ships, Cortes took away all options to retreat and, I am sure, got the full buy-in from his troops to make it a successful campaign. They had no choice. Either drown in the sea or conquer the new world.
Pirates will be so amped up for this one.

ECU thumped Tulsa 44-17 at Tulsa.
And Houston thumped SMU 38-15, where ECU lost to SMU 28-21.
Houston was up on USM at one point 48-22, then their defense fell asleep. Had Damien Fletcher not fumbled on the goal line last week, USM would be traveling to Houston this Saturday.
Saying that your analysis is skewed would be an understatement.

ONE THING I KNOW....about CUSA is that the defense of the east dominates the offense of the western division. i think this total is way too high at 70...ecu plays smash mouth and houston will have to adjust with the bad weather...a seriously key number here is 8. I truely believe that each team will get about 8-9 possessions in this football game, so if the defenses for both teams gets 8 stops (punts or FG's) that leaves 10 scoring posessions for both teams, ill take my chances that FG's are kicked on at least 2 of those possessions...ill take 31-28 SOMEONE and UNDER the total of 70

You're dumb if you think that every time a line goes up it's because of "SHARP MONEY" and that's the way to go.
Ever heard of a fishy line rookie? Not saying everyone fishy line will lose, but this one seems like they are dangling the bait.
The last 4 times houston has been a heavy Consensus favorite:
-14 vs. UTEP. LOSS
-6.5 vs. Southern Miss. Needed a TD with 30 seconds left to cover.
-1.5 vs. Tulsa. Miracle onside kick and 50 yard FG to win, but NOT cover.
-3.5 vs. UCF. Straight up loss and meltdown.
