Just imagine an 8 team playoff this year

i see there alot of fans of touch football in here, oregon,stanford, wisconsin,okie st, wv,clemson did you people watch those 3 games? those teams cant tackle worth a shit. all they do is try to put a hit on people, they dont even use their arms to wrap people and make tackles.

and stop bringing up the nfl it has nothing to do with college. look at the college teams lately that won bcs titles they all had good defenses, alabama, lsu, auburn so so but played great vs oregon, usc, etc.

none of those teams had shit defenses like those punk teams in the bcs games this year

want to watch a real football game? wait till monday bama vs lsu, we might not see more than 2 or 3 tds at most. that will be a good close game imo.

if you like offense so much and hate defense, why dont you go play touch football? cause that what these games have been so far these bcs games, besides the va tech michigan game, they all been touch football games, they dont even FUCKIN TACKLE NO MORE. just look at the offensive records that are getting shattered this year

lsu and bama has way more nfl talent too than any of those other teams.

you think vegas is stupid? they are not, 4 of top 6 favorites to win bcs title next year are from the sec. if you gave me even money the sec wins the bcs title next year it a good bet. i mean wtf is gonna beat any of those teams usc? maybe, oregon unlikely. after these 6 teams the next ones are like florida st va tech 18 to 1, oklahoma 20 to 1. and no way in fuck i put my $ on fsu or va tech they fuckin suck and oklahoma always chokes like a bunch of sissy people.

if you want parity watch college basketball, the ncaa tourney will be good this year its a tossup really for who will win the ncaa title in that, but football its all sec all day, how long it been like this 5 or 6 years now? gonna be like this for long time, until other conferences catch up.

we know the big east sucks, the acc sucks, the big 10 has sucked evey since ohio st got ass raped to florida in the bcs title game.

pac 10 is USC and oregon, oregon wont be as good next year as this year

big 12 is ok in football, but those teams always choke or the good teams in that conference got no defense, so i dont see how okies t or baylor will be better next year thats not happening. texas is in trouble with mac brown

I think that an 8 team tournament with perhaps a one game play-in for 9 and 10 would work best. Boise St. vs Baylor would get great ratings to start the post season don't you think?

The current system is an absolute ass raping of college football fans. There can be no doubt that a tournament would increase overall revenue. Corruption is the only explaination for it not happening yet.

" If this is the case, why is leaving out #3 much more significant than leaving out #9?  When you set up an 8 team playoff, you're ultimately choosing between 2 teams.....one to be #8 and the last team in, and one to be #9 and the first team out. If this is the kind of logic you were taught in grad school, you might want a refund from that online university.

No one said that the NFL would be more or less suited for a BCS type playoff than D-1 college football. All I pointed out was that you posted an irrelevant analogy.  Also, you failed to address the fact that the NFL plays games that are absolutely meaningless....one of the factors that makes the college football regular season the best there is....by far..

On one hand, you say there is no level playing field in college football to decide the 2 best teams to play in a championship under the current BCS system.......but you want the exact same system to decide the 8 best teams to play in a playoff system.  Can't have it both ways.

I don't need to see the Sun Belt champ or a 3 loss Notre Dame team play as 13-0 LSU or USC team.  I want to see USC and LSU play on an even playing field with plenty of time to prepare for the game and get healthy and no excuses.  In the NFL you can put a gameplan in less than a week, but in college it takes 3 or 4 weeks to put in a gameplan.

You guys also understimate how much expense and time is involved in major college program going to a game.  You could have 60,000 fans or more, plus the team and band and all the equipment.  You can't really have that many people travelling to multiple cities in Dec/Jan especially on short notice.

 Finally, an intelligent response. 

I like the current system as well. Bowl games are special for the athletes. Keep all the current bowls. Have #1 play #4 in the Sugar. #2 and #3 in the Fiesta. Winners the next week.

I know some of these bowls seem dumb but the athletes enjoy playing in them and us fans of the smaller schools enjoy them as well. Some schools only have these bowls to look forward to. Plus it gets the players from small schools on National TV,

If this ever happens in our lifetime, I think it will most likley be a 4 team playoff.  The NCAA has discussed the prospect of a 4 team playoff in the past, but I don't think it is likely to happen anytime soon.

Whith that said, I think we have the two best teams in the Country playing for the National Championship this year IMO.
