I would have to respectfully disagree with you Wahoo. I think Oregon beat a overrated USC team . Oregon is playing well but I think Boise would beat them again .

I also think TCU , Florida and Bama would beat them . I think Oregon would beat Iowa and most likely CIncy .  Although Cincy has the offense to score with them. 

I believe that TCU , Florida and Bama's defenses are good enough to slow down Oregon . I think to many people are jumping on the Oregon bandwagon because they beat an overrated USC team who lost to Washington and almost lost to Ohio St. who got drilled by Purdue .....the same Purdue team that would have beat Oregon if not for 2 defensive touchdowns .

I think Oregon might get beat this weekend but even if they win you won't convince me that Oregon is the 1st or second best team in the country right now . In my opinion they are getting to much credit for beating a WAY overrated USC team.

We have different visions as to what would happen... To me a great defense will defeat a great offense 9 out of 10 times.... If you cannot score you cannot win... That is how I look at it... Offense sells tickets and gets action, like in your situation you are betting Oregon's offense, but defense wins games and championships.... Go back and look at all of the SEC's Championships.. Everyone said that all these high powered offensive would burn the SEC defensive for 30 or 40... Ask Ohio State and the Sooners what they think about SEC defenses.... I think it would be a good game and you saying they would win by DD is what got me going... I honestly think it would be hard for Oregon to get to DD"s against a Bama or Florida defense...If you stop their running game they have nothing and that is what Bama and Florida specializes in....

 We will never have to worry about it though because Bama or Florida is going to the Title game and Oregon will beat the hell out of Iowa in the Rose Bowl and we will get to hear about how they would destroy an SEC defense if they got to play in the Title Game...

As stated in other threads, I would love to see Clemson vs. Oregon this week.  Both teams are playing well right now and have speed and athletes.  Just think this game could be in Autzen or death valley.  Wow

Wahoo...1st of all i love your threads...i have been a covers follower for years, and anyone who knows anything about this site should know u are good at what you do, and are just not having as good a year as usual this time around.....

I do agree that Oregon is one of, if not the best team in the country right now....but just like they faultered in the beginning of the year then picked it up, some teams find their true stride at different points of the season, and its all about enduring the stroms of weeks when ur not so hot. 

That being said, the SEC has been national champions 3 out of the last 4 years, and if you want to look at it realistically...possibly should have been 4 out the past 5 years if Auburn hadn't been cheated out of a shot at the title in 2004 (SoCal DOMINATED Oklahoma and proved OK shouldnt have ever been there)


So, while i love your thread, calling the SEC lovers out there unreasonable and irrational for believing in their conference doesn't make much sense to me...being that the SEC has found their stride when it matters most over recent years.

I missed the part of who Oregon has beaten, is it considered USC who already lost to UW (who never seriously threatened LSU on same field) and has their worst defense in 10 yrs or it a watered down Utah team in weekly dogfights with the Colo St and Wyoming of the world, or is it Cal tree huggers, or 38-36 win against Purdue powerhouse road team shutout last week 37-0 in Madison (Boilers 1-11 on the road last couple years)
 
playing against a top level defense the Ducks would struggle although with their past and remaining games we'll never know best defense faced was Boise St and seem to recall their first 1st down was in the 3rd quarter

like I said, Boise beat Oregon on the field so they don't have an argument, but Oregon is a different animal right now then they were then and no other team in college football could beat USC by 27 points in any environment, no freakin' way, USC is down this year, no doubt, but I still have to give alot of credit to Oregon in that game, they played near flawless football and it was impressive to watch

then again one of Oregon's better wins piling up 565 on Okla St last year on neutral field probably says when they're playing well as they are now they could do pretty well in the B12 or SEC, just a matter of when the rushing game gets shut down such as Bama or Florida would they have enough passing to get by, also defense is good not dominant

my fault there, missed that part wahoo - I guess one question is whether they're that much better or is it because they're playing Wash and USC defenses as opposed to Boise St defense, I assume they're improved quite a bit would fare much better against BSU however not sure they would run roughshod over them - well good discussion anyway bro

I always enjoy your opinions NOS, you know your football, here is an even better question with concerns to Boise and USC regarding their defenses

USC is young and they are down this year, but do you really think Boise has a better defense than them?  How many Boise St players would start for USC on defense?  1, maybe 2 at most, we are talking a different caliber of athlete my friend, I can't be convinced that Boise St has a better defense than USC, not even from someone I have respect for like yourself

Don't know why everyone keeps talking about Florida and Bama's defenses and don't mention Texas. Total def - Fla #2, Tex #3, Bama #4. Rush def - Texas #1, Bama #2, Fla #11. Pass def - Fla #2, Bama #20, Texas #29. Looks to me like Texas is just as stout as Florida or Bama.

And Wahoo, about USC's defense you think is so good. Total def - #36, Rush def - #44, Pass def - #53. Don't look that good to me, especially when compared to the big boys.

when did I say USC's defense was good bro?  I have stated many times that they are down this year, that they are young, they lost their whole team to the NFL draft, their entire linebacking core is starting for NFL teams right now as rookies

no doubt that Florida, Bama and Texas all have better defenses than USC this season, can't really be argued by anyone in my opinion

Although I believe Clemson is one of the hottest teams flying under the radar right now..... I would have to say Oregon is a little more Equipped at this moment with a overall better team. 

 Clemson has tremendous Speed and has great potential.... and if this game was played in Death Valley it would be a close game... But at a neutral or at Oregon I would say Oregon by 10 or more...
