@Bridge1 Bama does suck and has no business in the playoffs. No mention by committee that they LOST to Freaking bad Florida St. It was like that game result did not exist. Doubt they score a TD vs Oklahoma D. See them losing 13-3. No way they should be giving points

@bookieassassin
Thanks book .. good .. no .. great stuff!!! .. I saw the quote and might be misinterpreting thinking what you said they didn't say is what they said i said .. lol .. you get what im sayin ..
Layin 9 in a bowl game and whether its a "rivalry" or not under normal circumstances the dog is showing up taking their best shot looking to take down a big boy .. we need alot more than just talent diff ..
Banking on Wash as a 'next year' team .. young group .. improving over the year .. can't fill every major potential departure fine but will have enough by now to fill a few big holes .. team was very very FR/RS.FR/SOPH laden from what I recall and ready to step in ..
Do they want to play? .. does this rise to the level of 'get off my ass and open a can' .. yeah think it does ..
Proximity to ssn .. not waiting around for a month .. they had a week off since Oregon .. good fight .. bad taste .. one more chance here .. hard to tell if / how this impacts boise I'd expect them to always show up vs wash .. but this is a big surprise next week game off their big huge win .. i can imagine the rally falls a little flat trying to practice this wk ..
Fisch built AZ up from basically nothing and he did leave AZ at the alter staring down their big breakout year .. but that team really stuck together to play a very late bowl gm vs OU and sooners a much bigger challenge than expected AZ dug deep n won .. Coleman to wash stuck around to play .. and now Wash in the wake of the deboer natty run .. all teams are diff in the 'we are a team' sense but but general rule here .. teams that build together bowl together .. and wash feels like that kinda team on the cusp of a big breakout year and this is kind of the springboard into that .. maybe vets aren't playing as much but I'd expect they are available for the most part and play a bit and also 'pass the torch' .. there are so many worse situations than that for bowl gms lol ..
All that said yeah if it falls apart and they no show or just flat then its trouble .. demon williams leading a big comeback again not what we want .. they gotta transition from that seat of yer pants fun team into butt pounders next yr and this is a good place to start turning that dial .. .. maybe aggressive to lay 9 here but whatever .. think good chance they show up and maybe catch boise in bit of a yeah shock MW champ gm invite .. big dominating home win memory for life moment .. now gotta snap out of it and sorta caught in a time crunch .. we'll see ..

@rosswin97
Yeah I think ND deserved to go last year 11-1 . to have a rule like can't lose to XYZ team is not a realistic measure of whether you can be a top 12 team IMO .. football's a very complicated game and obvi we can say ND was on thin ice from then on but hard n fast rules like that eventually wouldn't pass the reality test .. and ND proved that last yr in the playoff beating Indy, UGA, PSU and spirited fight and comeback vs OSU .. think it was 31-7 at half and bucks came very close to the danger zone late in that one .. And I for one think they should have gone with Bama being booted out .. think they're likely better than last year and deserved the benefit of the doubt ..
But yeah every year the season will will shake out just a little diff and every year we learn a little more what straws stir the drink and how far they are willing to remove themselves from the stated purpose and some of their general rules of thumb to satisfy the owners of the playoff which obvi is the conferences and the pecking order therein .. if they don't do that these conferences can just pick up and go .. so makes sense we see the CFP maneuver rankings around to set up contingencies like the miami gambit .. think its obvious that if UVA wins then they and ND are in .. Duke won so Miami is in .. then watch them pretend they never really talked about miami beating ND till they were pinned up next to each other lol .. total make believe ..
and the Bama thing I think last team in they should go to TAMU .. i give them a little credit for the nasty schedule and beat UGA on the road .. but if their roster is in bad shape no prob leaving them out .. certainly not pin them up w OU and ensure one of those two makes the 2nd round .. they know TAMU would wax bama and Miami might beat OU at home .. very embarrassing !!! ..
Already seeing the push to get G5 outta there i suppose unless they have another major team like cincy .. and thats good IMO shouldn't be there G5 should do their own playoff .. and nothing would be more good and fun for HALF the teams and fans in FBS .. its the only level of football on earth that doesn't have a realistically winnable playoff championship ... think it would revitalize the ever more and more dying bowl season too .. and frankly I'd like to see an NIT type playoff for those left out of the CFP .. those bball teams aren't in the big dance but its a tourney and they play hard in it .. expanded playoff is dumb .. i think the best ideas are with more playoffs ..

I disagree. What they did in the playoffs is irrelevant if perhaps they shouldn’t have been there to begin with. I’ve noticed people tend to use hindsight when discussing playoff teams like saying fsu finished 5-7 but they weren’t 5-7 when Bama played them.

Well I'm just not one for hard n fast rules like that .. Something such as 'no top 12 team could ever lose to such a team as "they" ..' .. the first debate has to be had as to where the 'they' team line is .. we can say NIU was a 'they' team last year but they did have top 20-ish defense in some models .. hard to deny they were a very good unit .. and they won the game largely with that defense .. but ok I can get on board with NIU was a 'they' team for argument sake by virtue of them being a MAC team .. now if ND wins by 1 are they passing the red line test and can submit their resume? .. that's maybe a debate too .. some have argued that in-fact they should be winning by at least 1 or 2 TD's to prove their elite worthiness .. we have to settle that as well .. also Riley Leonard reaggravated his ankle injury in the game .. slippery slope to discount all injuries and say they don't matter an elite team will always find ways to win .. But eventually I think we will run into a situation we'll want to make exceptions and be stuck w our injuries don't matter rule ..
All I'm saying is there's a few arbitrary parameters we need to settle by having a rule like that and it does end up begging even more questions with arbitrary answers .. and all that to say at the end of the day if ND won by 1 point does that then satisfy the rule .. and maybe for NIU its 1 point but say it was umass .. gotta win by at least 2-3 scores id think .. need to set some margin of victory red line for some games to make this rule work as intended ..
I think the unintended consequence is it would place more emphasis on a team to make sure they dont trip over these red lines when we'd rather have the best teams focus on playing their best football in their biggest games .. small games you oft rest your players, etc .. tend to schedule these after big games like ND did @TAMU...
And end of the day there is now an easy way to skip such an arduous debate .. hindsight has made it self evident that in-deed a top 12 team could lose to a lowly NIU team ..

Yea a 1 pt win isn’t that impressive either and wouldn’t hold that much weight. Didn’t know Leonard got hurt or reinjured himself yea depending what n when in the game it has some merit I guess even though it’s notre dame

Yeah the other thing to say for last year is it was the first year of the expanded playoffs .. never before have we needed to debate outside whose 4th or 5th and I could certainly see ND not getting the not on a loss to NIU in a 4 team playoff .. '23 they had one loss to cincy .. it just so happened they were the 4th best team and thus no other argument except hit the bicks ND you don't deserve it .. don't schedule playoff bound G5 teams guys yer gunna be 5th every time ... but last year was all new and not the time to lay down the red line trip wires .. this year if they beat Miami FL and TAMU and lost to Miami Oh or some nobody it would be a shame if they didn't make it .. as it is they landed on the bubble .. good arguments to be made each way .. the where they were ranked argument has no baring on me those people aren't ranking the best teams they are stooges and ND mad that they got stooged by em .. well don't schedule top 10 teams the first 2 weeks ND .. hit the bricks again ..

Here's a couple of nasty defenses .. TTECH with maybe the nastiest front of them all .. Oregon with a good OL but we've seen em get stifled a few times .. Ducks needed OT to break 24 pts .. 20 vs Indy, 21 vs Wisco, 18 @Iowa, 26 @Wash .. Struggled passing vs Indy, Wisco and Iowa .... struggled rushing vs Wash and Indy .. The ceiling is high for their offense but there does seem to be one and I think they'll reach it in this game like the others .. TTech has put up some high point totals but alot of it has to do with D setting things up when teams get into that desperation mode .. one of these teams will prob get there in this game but I suspect it won't be early on like we saw with BYU .. TTech's offense has struggleed passing numerous games but with a caveat they've been dealing with many backups and injuries .. Morton has done pretty good for the most part .. run game has been pretty good but the yds / att aren't blowing anyone away .. could break 52.5 for sure but just seems a few too high more often stays low I think .. good luck!

Im with you on the Huskies B1. Your write up convinced me. Even though I think Boise's coach is better, they are in a tough spot and Huskies are hungry for a redemption win after a fresh loss to the ducks

@Hesed55
Yeah banking on a few things when layin 9/10 points in a bowl gm .. its definitely one we reallllly need Wash to take the wheel early .. if they dick around Boise will most certainly oblige them and stick around .. maybe win ..
But big picture we get wash firing off the bat it does feel like Boise won't score much here and the hope is we get DEMON DOIN DEMON THINGS and go from there .. thats the hope anyway .. fingers xx'd its 31-10 or so .. good luck!

JVILL / TROY OVER 46.5 .44/.4
Opened 51 and I think folks had the right idea here generally with Troy being a little bit defensive oriented and everyone saw Goose hobble off the field vs JMU in what we'd describe as a defensive slugfest .. they've also got a few injuries and xfers .. as it stands .. ALL of the xfers are out for this game .. bummer .. RB Tre Meadows and the with another OL injury this unit sounds a bit iffy .. We also saw JVILLE look inept in the scoring department last game and we don't know for sure whose in or out for them
So we get why the total went down so far ..
Couple things to like .. one its a bowl with probably a mix on the levels of motivations .. Jvill's D has been crap all year and its a battle of little bama teams playing in bama yer gunna get some motivation outta that .. Troy maybe in a bit of a downer spot here though coming off the SUPERMAX EFFORT vs JMU .. sure looks like they left it all on the field that gm and maybe a little banged up in some areas .. and here we are with a fairly short turnaround to get back in the saddle .. it feels like outside of the 'Showdown in Little Bama' thing there's not tons of motivation here and team could be a little flat .. very much a spot boise was kinda in .. diff opponent tho .. One thing to note in the news is Goose has been full practicing and seems like a decent shot he's good to go .. expect to still see Kilcrease and both QB's can actually lead the charge vs a D like Jville ..
I'd expect this bowl means more to JVILLE also off their losing effort in the conf champ game but not nearly the slug fest and less of a hangover .. 3rd year in FBS, 3rd bowl game .. diff HC but they did show up for the last 2 bowl games and think they will here .. Sounds like Cook is in and needs 129 yds rushing to be the all time JVILL rushing leader which he can accomplish in one season lol WOW!! .. not much but maybe prop of O99 yds is worth considering .. if Cook is in I'd expect everyone rallies to their major dude leader .. Troy run D is not great btw .. quite a few 200-300+ yd ROMPS vs their D and JVILL has the weapons in Cook and at QB to run all over this squad .. We've also seen a recent surge in passing with 6'8 Dre Johnson looking like a LEGIT MAJOR DUDE at times down the stretch .. he's a huge weapon ..
Hoping JVILL gets more traction on the ground than last gm vs Kenny and more red zone success .. horrific play calling and other crummy luck in that gm cost em in the red zone over n over .. and think the total has a bit of recency bias baked in along with some general who knows about either team showing up and just seems like it would be easy enough to get this to go over esp if JVILL can take charge with some scoring drives in H1 ..

ARMY -7 2.7 / 2.5
Get this line pretty much anywhere now we're a little late to the party .. shoulda hit it in the last couple days at 5.5 and 6.5 .. could come back to bite us but the crux of the play is we expect Army like other service academies to make the most of their bowl game once again with good stable coaching and roster situations ..
Uconn seems to be going down the tubes after HC Jim Mora skipped to Colo State .. chain reaction the OC becoming the interim HC and will coach the game but he's the TCU OC next year .. DC is on the website but he's Co-DC / LB coach at Miss State .. wouldn't surprise me if the D job is left to less qualified remaining staff .. this sparked a considerable number of opt outs including the QB and the big major stars on offense going pro and a number of others in the portal I'd imagine happy to talk about xferring to TCU with the OC .. can't imagine the OC truly cares to see those guys play unless they really want to .. but right now the RB group is to the 4th or 5th string, the major dude WR is out 3 starting OL's out another Ty Chan played a couple snaps vs AF so maybe that's one more .. Xfers to top LB and 2 CB's .. 2 potential injuries at DT including a key NT they'll need in this game .. they do have exp backup QB in Nick Evers .. big step down but could be productive.. Word still not out on some of the xfers playing but the dye has kinda been cast .. I don't think we'll get into a "Marshall Situation" from last yr but lotta moves and Uconn will be off a full month by the time this gm is played .. final gm week 13 .. lotta time to rally to the spot maybe .. also time to lose interest and rally to next year .. I could see this line going further out if things really spiral if xfers confirm they're out .. so taking the risk with 7 now think there's still some big upside .. hard to imagine this line could dip back below 4.5 without some very bad Army injury news or drastic turn in Uconn's prospects to show up strong ..
We got a peek at Army last week and they looked pretty good .. maybe one reason this hangs at 7 still is that Army didn't win but also only 16 pts scored .. generally we get ARMY / NAVY throwback to the olden days on offense with longer drawn out drives and fewer offensive plays overall .. Still expect a run heavy affair but Uconn giving up 5 - 6 yds / rush the last 5 games and given the likely number of quality opt outs and coaching sitch think Army will be fine in the scoring dept ..
Good luck

PITTSBURGH -7 .63/.6 (MGM)
It's portal Monday apparently with lot of names getting dropped in today .. News of Houser hitting the portal seems pretty devestating and with the OC moving on and his stock now back up after couple good seasons time is now for him to move on .. Hard to tell what to make of ECU in this spot they'll be without a few guys .. Haven't seen much if any major PITT outs .. what I liked from Pitt is despite lot of injuries they showed up last year as -8.5 point favs with QB out and numerous others on the OL thru the season .. they put their best foot forward and IMO we got lucky taking the points with toledo .. even w the full roster they needed a bit of luck to cover last year's bowl ... eventually went to OT and then went to the 2pt convos and lotta replays and reversals before a big emotional win for the rockets .. Pitt looked pretty pissed over it they were playin hard .. Pitt with a number of guys who haven't had a bowl win esp the FCS guys OC Kirwin Bell brought in w him ..
Also like the new QB that took over after Holstein was benched .. offense should be rockin n rollin here .. hard to imagine all the pieces of their VERY VERY GOOD run D play this game but this is a team that stuck together last year .. they won their first 7 with a couple miracles then lost the final 5 reg ssn games plus the very dramatic bowl game vs neighboring rust belter Toledo for a 6 game losing strak .. thought they'd scatter to the portal wind but team stuck together and nearly had a big big season .. hope we see a number of em play in this gm but think we can also trust Narduzzi to have some bullets to fire off the bench esp in that D front if some of the major studs go missing for this gm ..
Think the move from -4.5 to -7 is not quite enough for the Houser and other news considering this was about -6 or -7 when it came out so just back to the opening line .. I'd expect this should be over a TD and maybe closer to 10 for losing a solid QB and OC and very possible others from the offense leak out here .. getting a deal for now at least until Pitt gets some bad news but I suspect they are well above the average 'WANT' level for this game whereas the normally bowl hungry ECU team has taken a tough turn and I'd say now very much ... teetering ..

Expecting a solid show up for Fresno w the NDSU coaches first FBS bowl season .. seein -4.5 and moving higher at some spots .. MGM still -3.5 .. would get down sooner than later ..
Don't really wanna lay toooo many here because MIA OH is not usually MIA in bowl games so .. GOOD LUCK!

Little fun .. like Pitt and think they can cover that off the news .. Fresno now looks like a mover take them for the win .. ILL been steady lowering we'll see what the news is there .. did see the big LB Gabe is out for the Illini and a couple others but Altmeyer says he's ready to rock and saw some guys dropping for Tenn and kinda expect a few more there so .. recent line move suggests there's some significant news from Tenn but idk what it is .. TCU says they're ready to rock and feels like they showed up ready last year in the very very late bowl spot to drop the hammer last year so getting good odds for a bowl team saying they're showing up .. I'd half expect some of the very best USC WR's to not be fully committed to that gm .. lot to lose for them but so far no word there .. - GOOD LUCK!

TCU +6.5 .. 1.1/1.0 (BOL)
6.5 won't be around for long at BOL but you can find some 6.5's layin -115 or 6's at -110 .. we're a ways out but TCU so far sounds like they expecting to show up and I'm not saying this was the best team this year they do have a few good pieces .. some might in-deed bail out on us before the bowl comes .. but I like the prospect of a team kinda knowing they wanna show up and beat another big name early on for a late 12/30 bowl catching nearly a TD .. USC with a full roster could prob handle this line but my suspicion early was they gotta be busy making moves for next year and might not be very enticing to some of their BIG MAJOR stars like the WR duo to show up to this one .. already seeing J'Kobi Lane declaring for the NFL so that would be one if he confirms he's out for the bowl .. I would expect Maiava to play but just a good sich in my view with TCU rating much higher on the Famous "BRIDGE BOWL WANT METER" and catching nearly a TD .. GOOD LUCK!
