I know 2 things that are a fact: No one thought UCONN would win the Maui Classic - they did No one thought they would win 5 games in the Big East Tournament - they did
I know one thing I either bet on them from here on out or I lay off the game altogether because they can beat every team left in the tournament.
I don't want to sound biased because I saw some of these kids play in HS at Tilton but these are tough, tough kids being guided by a dynamite coach (and staff) who has won multiple championships.

Its pretty much a rule of thumb. Obviously some teams might have a game scheduled. But for the most part no teams play out of conference after January. That is when you are in the middle of your conference schedule and there aren't many free days or scheduling opportunities.
Also Duke only played that game because it was at home. They refuse to play anyone at an away venue. Only reason they did with St Johns is because they have had a contract for the past like 10 years and Duke wants to keep its presence in the NYC area.

"They are a completely different team than what they were in the 3rd game of the season...The fresmen are more advanced and confident than they were in the 3rd game of the season.
So this losing streak in February and March (last I checked were still in the month of March) proves what? Their improvement?

There are no elite teams this year and with UConn, they always have a shot because they always have the best player on the court.
Their success is based on what Alex Oriakhi can provide in the middle. If he is pulling down 10+ boards and giving them a little offense they are very difficult to beat. When he disappears is when UConn really struggles because with no down low threat it allows the other team to focus on the perimeter and double/trap kemba to get the ball out of his hands.

Fair assessment. As I said earlier, I wish U Conn was laying points. I just don't get it. Should be U Conn -3.5 to -4.5. Athletes should love a challenge. SDSU should be happy to have this game and this chance. Any athlete enjoys this opportunity--or doesn't have a heart.
That being said, I'm not sure a change of venue for U Conn is going to be helpful. The win over Texas was close, and that should be indicative of this game. Kentucky was also too young of a team (according to the Coach) and Mich St was overrated and had injuries. Bucnell simply doesn't have the arsenal to compete with U Conn's athleticism.
I see both teams playing very loosely and Calhoun having them ready to play an NCAA Tournament game.
The biggest heart shall win. If it is U Conn, well it was a good ride, and prestige and confidence prevails.

Losing 4 out of 5 in late February and early March...they must have eased off on the gas pedal, eh?
I don't think they could beat Temple, and I'll bet Wichita State could make up those 5 points they lacked back in November--based on their win last night.

Too bad you are unable to look at these games and understand/get something substantial out of them rather than just looking at the score.
Kemba was beat up and worn down during that stretch. The Freshman were hitting a wall and their defense really took a dive.
3 of those games were away games. @Lville they never showed up and got beat easily. Against Marquette they gave that game away because they did not execute at the end of the game. @WVU is always a tough game and they let it slip away in the final minutes. WVU is one of the most difficult arenas to play in.
Their last game against ND was very disappointing with the way they lost. Should have never happened.
But after that game Kemba held a team meeting and got everyone to put those games behind them and realize they had a real opportunity to do something special. All they had to do was straighten out their defense and get get everyone's mind reset and refocused. No one thought they would win 5 games in 5 days but they did because Kemba is a great leader and plays with mroe heart than any other player in the country.
The Freshman followed their leader and have played with the same heart and determination. They have played much better defense and everyone understands their role and what is to be expected when they step on the court. There are no excuses or another game if you lose. The young players got worn down mentally and physically going through the rigors of the BE the first time. They got a few days rest before the BE and have been playing some of their best ball all year.

Lame excuses--listen to yourself.
I stopped reading after the first excuse--too much.
All the man love for Kemba is completely gay

... like cincy .. anyone that takes SDST is going to lose their money .. UConn is the hottest team in the tournament .. there have been doubters all season (like dense Quantum) .. but we can just laugh at them and their ignorance

I watched several of the games in the Big East Tournament, and to me it appeared noone really wanted that tournament outside of Notre Dame and Louisville. Oh BTW, lest I forget...read 'em and weep:
Morehead State > Louisville

Apparently you also forget that Lville was up 8 with 8 minutes to go and all the momentum was in their favor. Then their best player/scorer/leader went down and Lville ended up losing.
Still should not have lost that game but losing Knowles changed the whole game for Lville.
Just like St Johns losing Kennedy. I told everyone I knew to take Gonzaga because I knew that Kennedy was a huge factor for the Redmen and without him St Johns would struggle.

I just don't get all this "U Conn is the hottest team out there" talk...
SDSU is 34-2! They've lost to 1 team all year!
Also last I checked the Big East and Mountain West both have 2 teams left standing. The Big East isn't nearly as good as most think. That's been proven over the first 2 rounds, simple as that.
So lets look at what U Conn has done that makes them so "red hot" and "dangerous" right now...
Big East tournament
They beat Depaul... wow
They beat G-Town... garbage team that got smoked in round 1 of the dance
They beat Pitt... also over-rated, lost to Butler
They beat Cuse... once again over-rated and lost to 11 seed Marquette
They beat Louisville... who lost to Morehead State in the first round
They beat Bucknell... wow
They beat Cincy by 11... that's a pretty good win, no beef there
Lastly lets keep in mind the game is in Anaheim. Less than 100 miles from the SDSU campus... this is basically an Aztecs home game.
Just my 2 cents

great info going here fellas for both sides, and a strong case could be made for either side--lets keep this thread alive thru tipoff as there is lots of keen insight to be had both ways - for me tho..it is still UCONN

Yeah the line says it all to me. SanDiego St. wins! Should be intersting though. Probably a 3 - 5 pt game. Kemba reminds me of Jimmer, but Jimmer as much as I dont like him, is a little better and more of a triple threat. That being sd. if BYU had that their Center back they'd of been a force as well. But they dont and they will lose to Florida. Back to this, San Diego St is a good team, and I would have to argue a bit better than UConn. These are just my thoughts. I think this is a big play for SanDiego St. As prev mentioned they already had their scare. Guess we will see!

Jimmer is a better shooter and scorer. He is not a better player.
Kemba plays much better defense, is a better leader, and plays well in all aspects of the game. Jimmer is a terrific player but is not the overall threat Kemba is on the floor, at both ends.
