uconn -1 over SDSU

U Conn wants up tempo. SDSU wants a controlled offense and set plays.

U Conn has to go out west. Kemba has been shut down many times this year and held under dbl digits.

Crowd will be a positive factor for the Aztecs.

I believe the next game will be a much toughr test for the Aztecs--the winner of DUKE and Arizona. Tough to play the defending champs who are the "brand name" of college basketball and have all that mystique and presence.

And Zona is very athletic, and maybe edgy about the attention going the Aztecs' way.

I see SDSU falling just shy of the Final 4, but this next game will be a breeze. Tempo and control will be with SDSU.

Both are good clubs but SD ST let N Colorado in the game for a helf or so which really surprised me some while U Conn crushed Bucknell in which many including myself thought this would be a letdown spot for U Conn after the Big East Tourny .

Then SD St barely gets by a Temple squad with no stars on it while U Conn had to beat a Big East team (Cinci) which knew how to play vs U Conn . Cinci was playing real good ball down the stretch so that U Conn win IMO was a more impressive win , again IMO ..

I hope i'm wrong because I have SD St advancing in my pools , but SD ST lost twice to BYU with Davies and I believe Conn is playing better than Byu ever did with Davies . Kemba towards the end of the season has gotten his mates involved much more offensively which is key to this game . Kemba showing great poise and control in the offense . The game SD ST beat BYU without Davies IMO was more of a win catching a team at the right time in terms of mentally how Byu was going to play without Davies which was a big factor more then than now as far as Byu and their chances to advance .

I feel UConn will play a great game even with the advantage that SD St has with the crowd .

Duke won the Title last year with no losses on Neutral Court and that's what U Conn has going this year . Of course every team has road losses but 3 or 4 of U Conn's road losses were in OT and buzzer beaters .

FACT: U CONN was not ranked preseason. Usually a preseason ranking translates into post season success. 23 of last 26 Champions were ranked in the top 10 preseason rankings. SDSU was ranked #23.

FACT: Common opponent--WICHITA ST

@ U Conn Wich St loses by just 4, and was in position to win. 83-79. Wich St had 79 points--enough to win in college bb most nights.

@SDSU, Wich St loses by 14 and never really threatened. 83-69. Interestingly they both lit up the Shockers for 83.

On paper, SDSU is 10 points better than UConn, based on a common opponent. Of course, not too much can be concluded from it, and it was in December. But it is a strong indication that SDSU has not been "overrated."

Oh, so the "loud point" (as opposed to "mute point" is that early games in the season don't count???? Are they just excercise? The next day they beat Mich St then Kentucky the next. Those don't count?

The Big East is sucking air right now, and U Conn has played NOONE outside that conference since they beat Texas by a point in January.

Butler > Pitt

Gee, one of the few posters who can write. Congrats. You might be right. i can't tell if the "freshmen are more advanced and confident" than when they played in Maui. If you can, more power to ya.

I think the names on both teams are pretty strange, but U Conn's key players nationally take the cake:

"Shabazz"

"Kemba"

If SDSU wins by a point, y'all will complain about the refs (SEE ALL THE POSTS AFTER THE PITT GAME--OR AFTER THE TEXAS GAME).

If SDSU blows them out by 15, you will conclude that U Conn just didn't play their game, or it was a road game, or whatever...

If U CONN wins by a point, you will conclude they are "way superior..." or "miles above SDSU and any team in the Mtn West Conference."

See it time and time again....for years.

Regardless, hard to measure "heart," but DUKE has it, and obviously BUTLER has it, but PURDUE didn't. Hard to guage that too as a fan or a player of lines.
