Outside of Taylor and Robinson Kansas really has no scoring. Does Kansas' lack of depth and the fact that both Taylor and Robinson were cramping (big deal in Maui) bother you.

Probably a no play for me, but as bad as UCLA is, Kansas isn't much better. Both are very down this year imo.

Kansas lost to Kentucky at the very end, when Kentucky couldn't miss a shot, they lost by ten. UCLA lost to a sunbelt team (one of the worst in conference at that) by 20. Please tell how Kansas "isn't much better"

I like LB State for a few reasons -- the strength of schedule in terms of competition could not be more different. LB State has played Idaho, Pittsburgh, and San Diego State (with the Pitt and SD State games coming on the road) while Boise has played the mighty Colorado Christian team (never even knew that school existed, lol), Utah, and CSUN. Long Beach State is far, far better than any of those schools. This will also be Boise's first road game and LB State first real quality opponent at home. LB State actually has pretty solid fan support and this should be a tough arena for Boise to have their first game in. To go into Pitt and win that game is very impressive to me for LB State... tough to win two road games against Pitt and SD State, a split is a great outcome for them.

Thanks Kap! Gonna lay off that one though hope LBS comes through for you. I'm doggin' with Cleveland State instead.

It's definitely possible. But UCLA's backcourt play is so bad at this time that I don't see how -- when against equal or higher caliber athletes and so-called HS superstars -- they can even consistently take advantage of the interior dominance they will have over most teams. Seems like no one knows how to throw a good bounce pass into the post anymore from the perimeter?

UNDER is how I would lean, although I could see a quick pace if guys get excited, especially early in this game. UCLA isn't a great shooting team, they have no one who can shoot the ball better than Michael Roll of past UCLA teams, who was a good but not dominant or great shooter.

Here's a fun prediction -- UCLA shoots less than 30% from 3 point land tonight

Still thinking about pulling the trigger on that kansas play. Not the UCLA people are used to this year. What do you think about them stepping up their game though with it be primetime ESPN? That's about the only thing holding me off.

What are you seeing in long beach btw? I capped it at 5.5 and pulled the trigger on boise even though I don't think I've ever even seen boise state play a basketball game

It would honestly make me think that they are going to play tighter than usual, maybe a little bit careless with the ball because they are afraid to make mistakes (if that twisted logic makes any sense).

Have you not heard? UCLA's defense, when bad (and its been bad for basically 5 of 6 halves this year), makes mediocre scores look like titans.

Not too worried about the cramping issues. Those staffs will have them plenty well hydrated today.

I agree that they are both down, but at least I've seen Kansas play what I think everyone would say are two good or better teams: Georgetown and Kentucky. UCLA's best team they played was LMU or MTSU. Kansas has the experience in feeling the intensity it needs to bring against other top programs to be successful, UCLA has been embarrassed by mid-majors -- and not even great ones at that.

I can appreciate you trying to make a point here, but really, you shouldn't talk out of your ass.

MTSU is a solid SOLID mid-major that won the Sun Belt Championship last year, returns a veteran team and will likely challenge for the title again and look to make a deep run in the NCAA. Marcos Knight for one is a name you will hear a lot of this year.

If by being down double digits almost literally the entire 2nd half after being tied at half qualifies as "losing at the very end", yeah they lost by 10 at the very end.

if that is how you want to bet college hoops, you won't have any money left.

Kap-- I hope you're not betting KU based on Ucla having no one to guard Thomas Robinson. If you don't let him dunk they don't have an offense

GW -- definitely not the only reason, although I'm gonna be honest, I don't think they will be able to stop him from dunking

Aww you're adorable...I'm the one talking out of my ass? You're confusing the
women's middle Tennessee team with the men's

2010 ncaab WOMENS champ was middle Tennessee/ulark. 2010 mens champ was florida Atlantic reg/ulark tourney.

How do I know this? North Texas is my alum. I was on pit crew for the basketball team for four years, and only missed one game in that span. I lived, breathed, ate and slept sunbelt basketball and it's what first got me into capping ncaab.

So as to "talking out my ass"? I assure you I've forgotten more about the sunbelt in the past hour than you've ever learned.

And p.s. middle Tennessee hasn't won the conference tourney/ or reg season conference since joining the sunbelt. And as for that "deep tourney" run this year? They haven't even made the tourney since 1989. so gl with that.

Riding the Bruins tonight... I more of a disbeliever in this KU team than I am of this UCLA team. I love the UCLA front court, and I think they'll challenge KU to be a jumpshooting team which they arent successful at.

I would normally agree 100% special_k but the guard disparity is very large IMO -- why does it seem like no one at UCLA can throw an entry pass to the post? Is it that hard?

    Nice call so far kap.

Was considering ucla for the second half, but think it may be best to leave this one alone.

No nba, trying to figure this college ball out.

Leave it alone. UCLA could win this half by 12 tops, or lose it by 20. Too much variance.

College is a much different animal, CT -- you can actually have huge talent disparities on the floor, much more drastic than in the NBA. Rarely get the "good" scheduling spots once conference play hits, definitely not like you do all season long in the NBA.

Kap are you back betting again? I remember you were taking a year off? Are these monopoly money plays? Not saying that's bad or anything just wondered if you were able to stay the course and take a year off
