NCAAB picks, Tuesday, November 22, 2011 -- UCLA vs. Kansas
Probably a no play for me, but as bad as UCLA is, Kansas isn't much better. Both are very down this year imo.

Thanks for the kind words, rangersmets.
I like LB State for a few reasons -- the strength of schedule in terms of competition could not be more different. LB State has played Idaho, Pittsburgh, and San Diego State (with the Pitt and SD State games coming on the road) while Boise has played the mighty Colorado Christian team (never even knew that school existed, lol), Utah, and CSUN. Long Beach State is far, far better than any of those schools. This will also be Boise's first road game and LB State first real quality opponent at home. LB State actually has pretty solid fan support and this should be a tough arena for Boise to have their first game in. To go into Pitt and win that game is very impressive to me for LB State... tough to win two road games against Pitt and SD State, a split is a great outcome for them.
Thanks Kap! Gonna lay off that one though hope LBS comes through for you. I'm doggin' with Cleveland State instead.![]()

I like the under in the KU UCLA game. Have a feeling its going to be a knock down drag out game in the 60's. Just dont think either team has consistent perimeter scoring yet and I think UCLA will keep it close. KU just doesnt have the ability to blow teams out this year. Not nearly as efficient in their half court offense as they usually are.
It's definitely possible. But UCLA's backcourt play is so bad at this time that I don't see how -- when against equal or higher caliber athletes and so-called HS superstars -- they can even consistently take advantage of the interior dominance they will have over most teams. Seems like no one knows how to throw a good bounce pass into the post anymore from the perimeter?
UNDER is how I would lean, although I could see a quick pace if guys get excited, especially early in this game. UCLA isn't a great shooting team, they have no one who can shoot the ball better than Michael Roll of past UCLA teams, who was a good but not dominant or great shooter.

Still thinking about pulling the trigger on that kansas play. Not the UCLA people are used to this year. What do you think about them stepping up their game though with it be primetime ESPN? That's about the only thing holding me off.
It would honestly make me think that they are going to play tighter than usual, maybe a little bit careless with the ball because they are afraid to make mistakes (if that twisted logic makes any sense).

Outside of Taylor and Robinson Kansas really has no scoring. Does Kansas' lack of depth and the fact that both Taylor and Robinson were cramping (big deal in Maui) bother you.
Have you not heard? UCLA's defense, when bad (and its been bad for basically 5 of 6 halves this year), makes mediocre scores look like titans.
Not too worried about the cramping issues. Those staffs will have them plenty well hydrated today.

I agree that they are both down, but at least I've seen Kansas play what I think everyone would say are two good or better teams: Georgetown and Kentucky. UCLA's best team they played was LMU or MTSU. Kansas has the experience in feeling the intensity it needs to bring against other top programs to be successful, UCLA has been embarrassed by mid-majors -- and not even great ones at that.

I can appreciate you trying to make a point here, but really, you shouldn't talk out of your ass.
MTSU is a solid SOLID mid-major that won the Sun Belt Championship last year, returns a veteran team and will likely challenge for the title again and look to make a deep run in the NCAA. Marcos Knight for one is a name you will hear a lot of this year.

Aww you're adorable...I'm the one talking out of my ass? You're confusing the women's middle Tennessee team with the men's
How do I know this? North Texas is my alum. I was on pit crew for the basketball team for four years, and only missed one game in that span. I lived, breathed, ate and slept sunbelt basketball and it's what first got me into capping ncaab.
So as to "talking out my ass"? I assure you I've forgotten more about the sunbelt in the past hour than you've ever learned.

FWIW fellas, I've seen sulfurboy kill it in his picks many moons ago.

College is a much different animal, CT -- you can actually have huge talent disparities on the floor, much more drastic than in the NBA. Rarely get the "good" scheduling spots once conference play hits, definitely not like you do all season long in the NBA.
