St. Louis has had a boatload of time to prepare for Duke, curious to see how they defend the three-ball in a morning setting. They will struggle to score and should be a defensive focused ballgame. UNLV had a disappointing effort last game, but I’m sure much of that can be attributed to building a lead and letting it sleep b/c you realize you go to Louisville for the next game on the schedule. Revenge game for Louisville, although UNLV did win here in 2008. Big difference in traveling east and playing a 6pm tip to traveling east and playing a morning tip. Morning game probably going to keep me on the sidelines here but should be a great matchup and UNLV should bring EXTRA focus. Teams are pretty even in terms of personnel. Rutgers laying a lot of points scares me. TCU looks to continue their winning ways on the 2nd game of a roady, while Nebraska has been home for a while. Detroit continues their Western/Eastern/Central Michigan road trip. This Southern Illinois/Western Kentucky matchup use to be a lot more entertaining when both squads had a lot more talent. I like the spot for the Salukis here, they matchup extremely well with experience and WKU is missing it’s guard presence that it has had for the past few years. Revenge spot for WKU but they lost at Southern last year with a much better team. Southern’s essentially the same outfit. Earlier in the year I when Wisconsin MKE played Marquette, I alluded to MKE having very little inside presence which was actually a good matchup for them. Wisconsin’s gameplan against MKE will be the same gameplan they employ against Marquette on Saturday. Pretty good spot for Wisconsin I think with a big advantage at one of their strength. Pretty big name for Arkansas Little Rock to be playing at home. They’ve won outright as dogs against Illinois State and Tulsa already this year at home and in a similar spot last year with a big name coming in, they actually held a lead on Memphis at the half....

Tennessee and Pitt should be a pretty decent ballgame. Experience versus not-so-much experience in that game. Tennessee has been idle for quite a while and Pitt has the guards to contain Tennessee’s length. Kansas State was able to do anything and everything they wanted last year against Loyola CHI. Hofstra beat Florida Atlantic on the road last year as a 1.5 favorite. Dayton is 7-2, but it sure don’t seem like it. ODU’s played a rough stretch of three games in six days, but was able to come out with a big victory in their last where all starters played no more than 30 minutes. Should be a pretty defensive minded low-scoring ballgame again. Out of the two halves they played last year, neither team scored more than 30 in any of them. I’ve already touched on the Washington/Texas A&M total numerous times, something I’ve been waiting for. Washington’s first true road game scares me a bit, and both teams defensive #’s are pretty good, so I expect a 150-152 to come out hopefully. They only hit 137 with a game lined at 152 last year, but there was 132 shots taken, and both teams can fill it up from any position. BYU put up 99 on Arizona last year in a 30 point victory and both teams have scored in the 70’s in every single game this year. It would be hard to imagine Arizona shooting as bad as they did last year and only putting up 69...

I would have to believe that Long Beach State and North Carolina would put up some points but the travel across country and the 3rd game of a 7 game roady, I would not be so certain Long Beach’s shots would continue to fall. VCU/Richmond falls into the same category as ODU/Dayton. Both games should be the two most enjoyable from a viewer’s perspective on Saturday’s card. VCU has won the last six games in the series, but they were also favored in all six of those games of the Black & Blue Classic. The last three years in the series, the games have gone like this: Richmond builds a nice lead, Richmond fails to show up in the 2H, Richmond loses. They’ve been flat out horrendous in the second half of these games, and a bunch of that credit goes to the VCU defense. This year, they get to play at home, and I think they have the better team. They depend on the 3-ball a bit too much for my liking, but they got a nice case of revenge here, along with a week to prepare. VCU may be quicker, but Richmond is the lengthier and more physical squad. Richmond rebounds well, VCU does not. The physical presence should be the difference in the ball game. This could be a good spot for Missouri State. Oklahoma State’s been involved with the OT game with Lasalle last Saturday and then put everything they had into a nice situational spot with revenge at Tulsa the other night. I think it’s a flat spot for them and their next three are Bama, Stanford, Gonzaga..

Two pretty comical projections. There is a slight chance Depaul is an underdog, at home, to a MAC squad. And the San Diego/SDSTU game. San Diego needed overtime to beat San Diego last year. Doesn’t look like they’ll need it this year. Tough spot for Gonzaga to get trounced then travel east, could be tough for Notre Dame to bounce back as well. Neither New Mexico or New Mexico State have played a game this week, so the return game of this matchup is fresh in their mind. I had the over in the first matchup, and will look at the under here. New Mexico State should have trouble scoring and gut feel is New Mexico embarrasses them. I can only hope for a small # on Murray State as this is the classic matchup of a really defensive minded team going up against a bunch of JUCO players finishing out their final two years of eligibility. I’ve mentioned Schulman and his method of bringing in 2-year players rather than four year players a couple times this year in their conference matchups where they’ve started 2-0. I’m just not very fond of the idea chemistry wise, and it could be an embarrassment against an experienced defensive squad in Murray State. Chattanooga has yet to play a team with a slow pace that includes a tough defense. They should struggle to hit 55-60 even playing at the heckle-jeckle frantic up and down that they play at. Murray State being on the road for what seems like an eternity (6 straight) is a slight scare, and if this game is lined anywhere close to the 140’s like it has been the past few years, all value points to the under. I’m also scared of the fallout in the loss to Morehead. Quite a bit of emotion was put into that game, and if they don’t put it behind them real quick, they won’t have a shot at revenge come February b/c they’ll be out of the race...

Northern Iowa hasn’t lost a home game in 20some tries. This game gets my vote for lowest total of the day. Should see 116-120 I would think. I have already noted my stance on both Oakland and Michigan State this year, Oakland matches up pretty well here. Just worried about Oakland’s non-conference schedule at some point taking a toll on itself. Might check out Oral Roberts, won’t touch the other games.

my thoughts: love the TAMU over cuz they're gonna be running a ton this year, K-State seems short, Dayton too high, LBSU-UNC should see 160s I would think, richmond seems short, nmsu is huge but screw playing a road team in the Pit, love the SDSU line being so high because they will murder USD, like wofford, LOL @OU only being -2 at home to oral roberts (i'm so happy OU sucks),

Can they on a given day? Sure. But that program is in a full downward spiral. I think half the teams in the Big East could beat them with four players...and I'm serious.
