Opening line

Miami -16, Over/Under 48.5

Why the line moved

UPDATE 7:45 P.M. ET THURSDAY: The SuperBook at Westgate opened Miami -14 and reached -15.5 a couple of hours ago. "Good two-way action on the spread, with the majority of parlays coming in on Miami," SuperBook manager and oddsmaker Eric Osterman said. "Some public players have bet a little bit on UAB moneyline. We have taken a little bit of sharp money on UAB first half +8. We will need Miami to win but not cover."

UPDATE 4 P.M. ET THURSDAY: Miami is on the move the past couple of days at PointsBet USA, after bottoming out as 13.5-point favorites, down 2.5 points from the opener of -16. The Hurricanes climbed back to -15.5 by this afternoon. Although point-spread ticket count is two-way, with Alabama-Birmingham actually getting 53 percent of bets, Miami is getting 70 percent of spread money. And after the total peaked Wednesday at 55, up 6.5 points from the opener, it ticked down to 54.5 today. Still, 88 percent of tickets at PointsBet USA are on the Over.

UPDATE 1:45 P.M. ET THURSDAY: A few hours before the 2020 college football season kicks off, Miami is getting a little less support at FanDuel Sportsbook than earlier in the week. However, the Hurricanes are still a popular play and moved from -13.5 to -14.5 on Wednesday. Currently, the 'Canes are drawing 72 percent of bets and money on the point spread. The total remained at 54.5, where it's been since Monday, but that's up 6 points from the opener of 48.5. The Over is getting 69 percent of tickets and 76 percent of cash at FanDuel.

UPDATE 12:30 P.M. ET TUESDAY: FanDuel Sportsbook opened Miami -15.5 on Sept. 2, and the initial move was up to -16.5 a day later, but the line has fallen since and currently sits at Hurricanes -13.5 (-120). However, it's clearly not the public moving this number, as Miami is drawing 85 percent of early bets and 90 percent of early dollars. The total moved even more, though in the opposite direction of the line, up 6 points to 54.5, with betting splits to back up that move. Sixty percent of tickets and 77 percent of dollars are on the Over.

---

This line is actually on the decline at PointsBet USA, where it opened Aug. 29 at Miami -16 and dipped to -13.5 by Monday morning of game week. The total, meanwhile, is on the rise, already up 5 points to 53.5.

Opening line

North Carolina -20.5, Over/Under 63.5

Why the line moved

UPDATE 11:55 A.M. ET SATURDAY: PointsBet USA's Patrick Eichner said this early kickoff is the most-bet game of the day so far. North Carolina opened -20.5 and is up to -24, so the book will surely need the underdog.

UPDATE 11 A.M. ET SATURDAY: "Sharps are betting North Carolina, and the public is betting Syracuse moneyline," said Reyna Hernandez, manager at The SuperBook at Westgate. The Tar Heels moved from -21 to -23.5. Hernandez said there's also noteworthy parlay liability on North Carolina.

UPDATE 12:30 P.M. ET TUESDAY: The Tar Heels opened -20.5 at FanDuel and got to -22.5 Monday afternoon, and that number is apparently helping balance the action, as this game is now getting two-way play on the point spread. North Carolina is taking the slimmest majority of tickets, at 51 percent, and is getting 56 percent of the money. The total is now at 65.5, up from 63.5, with only 25 percent of tickets but a whopping 93 percent of dollars on the Over.

---

Early bettors at PointsBet USA already think an ostensibly three-touchdown spread isn't enough in this ACC contest, with North Carolina up to -22. The total has been relatively stable since going up Sept. 2, ticking from 63 to 63.5.

Opening line

Iowa State -11, Over/Under 57

Why the line moved

UPDATE 11:55 A.M. ET SATURDAY: At PointsBet USA, bettors are perhaps more intrigued by the total than the side. The total moved from 57 to 56, with 70 percent of bets and 90 percent of handle on the Under.

UPDATE 11 A.M. ET SATURDAY: Iowa State just moved to -13.5 at BetMGM in Nevada, up 3 points from the -10.5 opener. "It's all Iowa State as far as tickets go, money is a little closer at 2/1," BetMGM's Scott Shelton said. "It's not much of a decision."

UPDATE 12:30 P.M. ET TUESDAY: Iowa State opened -11.5, briefly touched -9.5 Sunday, then rebounded to the opener Tuesday morning at FanDuel. It's pretty much all Cyclones on the point spread, at 81 percent of tickets and 91 percent of money. And the Under is the play so far in this matchup, landing 69 percent of bets and 82 percent of the cash. The total opened 57.5, dipped to 55.5 and is now 56.5.

---

Line movement at PointsBet USA this past weekend seemed to show some support for the double-digit underdog Ragin' Cajuns. who tightened to -10. However, the line ticked back up Sunday and Monday, and the Cyclones are now -11.5.

Opening line

Notre Dame -19.5, Over/Under 53.5

Why the line moved

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Notre Dame opened -19.5 at BetMGM in Nevada and reached -22 earlier today, before ticking back to -21.5. "We need Duke here," BetMGM's Jeff Stoneback said. "Almost a 5/2 ticket count, and money is 2/1 on Notre Dame. But not a big decision." Stoneback noted that the total dipped from 53.5 to 51.5, and that there was sharp play on the Under.

UPDATE 11 A.M. ET SATURDAY: Notre Dame has gone from -20.5 to -22 at The SuperBook at Westgate. However, the most interesting bet was not on the spread, but rather the moneyline. "A customer bet $17,112 to win $1,069 on Notre Dame moneyline -1,600," The SuperBook's Hernandez said, adding that the public is on the Fighting Irish and the sharps are on the Under. The total opened 54, got as high as 56.5, then plunged to 52.5.

UPDATE 4 P.M. ET THURSDAY: This game is very lightly bet at PointsBet USA so far, but the large bulk of that limited action is on the big home favorite. Notre Dame is landing 80 percent of tickets and money on the spread, and the line ticked from -19.5 to -20 on Wednesday afternoon.

UPDATE 12:30 P.M. ET TUESDAY: This line opened Aug. 31 at FanDuel, with Notre Dame a hefty 20.5-point favorite, and the number ticked to -19.5 a day later and stuck there. The Fighting Irish are drawing 79 percent of bets and 88 percent of the cash. Early bettors also love the Over, which is taking 83 percent of tickets and 97 percent of dollars. The total opened 53.5 and stretched to 56.5 Tuesday morning, but that appeared to attract some buyback in a hurry – perhaps sharp play – as the total dialed back to 54.5 by Tuesday afternoon.

---

Over this past weekend, Notre Dame moved to -20 at PointsBet USA, then ticked back to the opening number. The total hasn't moved, save for a little back-and-forth on the price, and the Over/Under is currently -105/-115.

Opening line

Florida State -11, Over/Under 54.5

Why the line moved

UPDATE 3:15 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Kickoff was supposed to be at 3:30 p.m. ET, but a lightning delay has moved that to 4 p.m. ET. At FanDuel, Florida State opened -11.5 and stretched to -14.5 earlier today, before ticking back to -13.5. The Seminoles are getting 61 percent of bets and 64 percent of money on the spread. Bettors are also on the Under, to the tune of 65 percent of tickets and 70 percent of money. The total has dropped from 54.5 to 49.5, with weather surely a factor, too.

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Florida State opened -12 at BetMGM's Nevada sportsbooks and is up to -13.5 today. However, BetMGM's Jeff Stoneback said the book took a $100,000 bet on Georgia Tech +13.5 this morning. "So we need Florida State."

The Seminoles are up to -12 at PointsBet USA for an ACC season-opening contest with the Yellow Jackets. Through Monday morning, the total was stable.

Opening line

Oklahoma -49.5, Over/Under 72.5

Why the line moved

UPDATE 4 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Because this game involves an FCS school, Missouri State, it didn't go on the board until today at FanDuel, and with a massive point spread, as you might expect. And that number is now up to Sooners -51.5, with Oklahoma landing 52 percent of bets and 79 percent of money. But apparently, there are a few dollars on Missouri State moneyline, with people taking fliers on the +4,000 price. The Bears are drawing 87 percent of tickets and 94 percent of money in what is surely a very lightly bet moneyline pot.

Opening line

Wake Forest +31.5, Over/Under 60

Why the line moved

UPDATE 7:30 P.M. ET SATURDAY: As the game prepares to kick off, William Hill US director of trading Nick Bogdanovich said the book is definitely rooting for big underdog Wake Forest, with Clemson having moved from -32.5 to -34.5. "We need Wake Forest big. All the straight bets and all the parlays are on Clemson."

---

Clemson is ranked the No. 1 team in all the land, no surprise, and as such is a massive favorite over ACC rival Wake Forest. At PointsBet USA, the line reached Tigers -33 Sunday, then dipped a notch to 32.5 Monday. The total hasn't moved yet.

Opening line

Texas -42.5, Over/Under 61.5

Why the line moved

UPDATE 7:40 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Texas moved from an opener of -40.5 to -44.5 at FanDuel, but the betting splits on the point spread are interesting, just the same. Texas-El Paso is getting 59 percent of tickets, but the Longhorns are getting 60 percent of the money.

---

The number has bounced around a bit on this game at PointsBet USA, first going to Longhorns -43, then dropping to -42 before returning to -43. Suffice to say this is not expected to be a competitive game in any sense other than, possibly, the point spread. The total is down a point to 60.5.
