Labour Day weekend has arrived, and divisional rivalries are set to rear their ugly heads.

Monday’s doubleheader features the Edmonton Elks traveling to McMahon Stadium to face the Calgary Stampeders, and I expect Cody Fajardo & Co. to keep things close in Cowtown.

Elks vs Stampeders prediction

My Elks vs Stampeders pick: Elks +7.5 (-115 at BET99)

A month ago, I’d be beyond scared straight of betting on the Edmonton Elks.

The Elks got out to another pathetic start in 2025, with Mark Killam’s team losing six of their first seven games to open the campaign.

Enter Cody Fajardo.

Recycled by the Montreal Alouettes following a successful two-year stint at the helm, the veteran quarterback has replaced Tre Ford as Edmonton’s starter — and he has certainly made the most of his opportunity.

Fajardo boasts a 111.9 QB rating in 10 appearances for Edmonton, including a 7/3 TD-INT ratio. As a result, the Elks have turned a 1-6 start into three consecutive wins with Fajardo at the helm.

Defensively, Edmonton was a sieve early in the season, but the unit has tightened up, allowing 22 points or fewer in each of its last three contests.

Having won each of their last four meetings with the Calgary Stampeders, +7.5 is too lofty a spread ahead of Monday's Battle of Alberta.

Elks vs Stampeders same-game parlay (SGP)

Elks +7.5

Stampeders team total Under 29.5

Despite a 7-3 record, the Stampeders’ offense sits in the middle of the league in points per game, averaging 27.3 per contest.

Calgary’s offense leans heavily on running back Dedrick Mills, which chews up yardage and takes time off the clock, as they’ve given their RBs a league-leading 233 carries entering Week 13.

The Stamps have fallen short of 29.5 points in three of their last four contests, so I’m taking the Under on their team total.
