Although Alycia Baumgardner is moving up in weight, her reputation for punching power might not be coming with her.

Alycia Baumgardner vs. Elif Nur Türhan predictions headline Sunday's MVPW-07 boxing card at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.

A -550 favorite, Baumgardner moves up to lightweight in search of a world title in a second weight class against the undefeated IBF champion, whose punching power presents an intriguing challenge.

Alycia Baumgardner is my pick, but this could be a tougher fight than the odds suggest.

Elif Nur Türhan is the naturally bigger fighter and has demonstrated legitimate punching power, including her stoppage of Beatriz Ferreira.

Meanwhile, Baumgardner has been the more accomplished fighter against higher-level opposition, but her power hasn't translated into knockouts for some time.

That said, I'm trusting her experience, superior technique, and ability to make adjustments against a dangerous opponent in a new weight class.

BEST BET
Baumgardner by decision (-250)

Baumgardner is the more polished boxer and should have the defensive skills and experience to avoid prolonged exchanges.

The three-minute rounds add an interesting wrinkle, but I expect Baumgardner to rely on her technique and experience rather than attempting to overwhelm a naturally bigger opponent.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Baumgardner has gone the distance in each of her last six victories, with her most recent knockout coming against Terri Harper in November 2021.

Odds as of Nov. 8.

Baumgardner has competed against a deeper field of championship-level opponents, and her experience and technical skills should help her overcome the physical disadvantages.

The books agree, making her a -550 favorite, with a win by decision at -250 the best-priced way to back her.
