Canada's best player has been given the green light to return to play in Canada's World Cup game following a hamstring injury.

You read the headline right: Canada captain Alphonso Davies will be available to play against Qatar in their World Cup match tonight.

This news comes straight from the mouth of Jesse Marsch, who confirmed it late Wednesday night. His presence on the pitch will give Canada an immediate boost to their World Cup odds.

While Davies is unlikely to start, books have begun adding his player props just in case. We'll break down those odds below to see how you should factor him into your Canada vs. Qatar predictions for June 18.

Alphonso Davies odds vs Qatar

Market Kalshi Win probability
1+ goal +525 16%
2+ goals +1567 6%
1+ assist +400 20%
2+ assists +4900 2%
To score or assist +188 35%

Although Davies is Canada's best player, the probabilities are way lower because it is unknown if he will start against Qatar.

At Kalshi — one of our best prediction market apps — predictions do not void if your player doesn't start. However, if Davies never enters the game — which is quite possible — the market settles to the last fair market price before game start.

Alphonso Davies prediction

Prediction: Alphonso Davies to score or assist (+188)

Davies has not played since his hamstring injury in Champions League action back in early May, but I can't help but bet on the captain to score or set up a goal if he sees the pitch.

Canada controlled play for much of the second half against Bosnia but managed only one goal. That's where Davies will add a significant boost as he looks to lead this country to victory.

My only worry is how the Bayern Munich player will be used. When asked about further details, Canada manager Marsch had this to say:

We’ll see how the match goes and then make a decision on how we choose to use him.

Davies' unique athleticism allows him to play both at left back and attacking, so he can slot in multiple spots. Rather than trying to guess where he'll go — if he even comes on at all — I'll take plus money on him to score or assist.
