Storm vs Sparks Predictions, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

With Kelsey Plum out of tonight's lineup, a Storm out of Seattle can brew right in the middle of Crypto.com Arena as the shorthanded Los Angeles Sparks try to weather the task at hand.

Tuesday’s final WNBA matchup will be a Western Conference battle between the Seattle Storm and Los Angeles Sparks. The game will take place at Crypto.com Arena, but the home team’s injuries could make taking advantage of the venue difficult.

My Storm vs. Sparks predictions reflect the uphill battle Los Angeles will likely face. Here’s how I’m betting my WNBA picks on Tuesday, June 17.

Storm vs Sparks predictions

My Storm vs Sparks best bet: Storm +9 (-110 at bet365)

The opening lines for this game indicated that a one-possession game was likely, but that was before a key player for the Los Angeles Sparks was ruled out. Kelsey Plum, who leads Los Angeles in points and assists per game, has been ruled out with a leg injury. The star point guard’s absence will make a huge difference against one of the league’s premier defensive teams.

Plum isn’t the only key player who’ll miss time on Tuesday. Odyssey Sims has been ruled out for personal reasons. Someone will have to step up in the backcourt, but 2025 first-round pick Sarah Ashley Barker is still working on becoming an impact player in the pros. Skylar Diggins and Erica Wheeler will likely be far too much for Barker and other Sparks guards to handle.

The Sparks won’t have a top-five scoring offense with their go-to scorer and playmaker out of commission. The Storm’s defense hasn’t looked its best lately, but bettors should expect a masterclass from them against the less experienced guards Los Angeles will roll out. Seattle’s ability to generate stops should help the heavy favorite cover the spread.

Storm vs Sparks same-game parlay (SGP)

Storm +9

Skylar Diggins Over 17.5 points

Skylar Diggins Over 5.5 assists

I expect the Storm to win handily and Diggins will be the engine that powers Seattle. The veteran guard is amid one of her best scoring and passing seasons yet in her age-34 campaign. She’s carved up opposing defenses all year while shooting 44.5% from the field and 39% from deep. Diggins has scored at least 18 points in eight of the 11 games she’s played in this season. She’s done it twice against top-four scoring defenses in her previous three outings.

Plum makes a difference on defense too with a team-high 1.7 steals per contest. Diggins can find open teammates against one of the five teams that gives up more than 20 dimes per game to opposing teams in this matchup. Los Angeles isn’t equipped to slow down a crafty pro who is on track to eclipse 6.0 assists per game in a second straight season.
