Can’t Stop Copper

The Chicago Sky are off to a strong start to the 2023 WNBA season, bringing a 3-1 record with them when they visit the Dream tonight. A big reason for that success has been the stat-stuffing play of guard, Kahleah Copper.

Copper is averaging 15.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists through those four games and is being counted on even more with injuries plaguing the Sky early on. Chicago is still without starting forward Isabelle Harrison and will also miss her replacement, Morgan Bertsch, along with reserve guard Rebekah Gardner tonight.

Copper is projected for a big game against an Atlanta team that isn’t playing great to start the season, after barely getting by Minnesota and losing to lowly Indiana in its last two games. Copper's forecast is calling for just short of 20 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.

Those projections all push past Copper’s respective totals on points (16.5), rebounds (4.5), and assists (2.5) for Tuesday and blow the combo prop of 23.5 points + rebounds + assists out of the water.

Copper isn’t phased by playing on the road either and was Chicago’s most steady contributor as a visitor last season, maintaining her scoring average of 15.8 points per game in foreign gyms while pulling down 5.3 rebounds and dishing out 2.1 assists.

Given the massive roster shakeup in Chi-Town this offseason, Copper is now the No. 1 option for the Sky and is playing like to start the 2023 campaign.

Kahleah Copper points + rebounds + assists: Over 23.5 (-130 at bet365)

Plays on Hayes

The Sun have a great chance to bounce back from a bad second half against the Liberty last time out, returning home to host the Fever.

Oddsmakers have Connecticut laying the lumber as massive home chalk, which means plenty of points from the Sun’s scorers like Tiffany Hayes.

She’s emerged as a top threat the past two games, putting up 16 and 13 points, and logging more than 30 minutes of floor time after a quieter start to the season. She joined the Sun this offseason after 10 years in Atlanta but is quickly finding her role with the franchise.

Hayes went 6-for-13 from the floor in the loss to New York, scoring nine of those 16 points in the opening half before the Sun flopped on offense in the final two frames.

Tonight’s tilt with Indiana is a much softer challenge than New York’s defense, with the Fever ranked dead last in defensive rating. Hayes is a versatile scorer who can take and make shots from beyond the arc while also working off the dribble and getting to the hoop, creating points outside of the offensive sets.

Her player projections are calling for more than 16 points from the veteran guard Tuesday, which is more than enough scoring to eclipse the modest point prop total of 11.5 (Over -115). If you’re looking for a little extra sprinkle, Hayes’ points milestone market has 15 or more points at +215 odds.

Tiffany Hayes points: Over 11.5 (-115 at bet365)

Class on the Glass

The Lynx are in the Lone Star State battling a Wings team short on status under the basket.

Dallas is still down forward Diamond Deshields, and starting center Teaira McCowan could be out again tonight nursing a knee injury before an upcoming stint with the Turkish national team. That lack of inside talent prompted the Wings to grab free-agent center Kalani Brown this morning.

The smaller stature of Dallas opens a big opportunity for Minnesota’s frontcourt, namely forward Napheesa Collier. The 6-foot-1 forward has been a force inside for the Lynx and is coming off a 21-point, 10-rebound performance in the loss to Las Vegas last time out.

Collier’s rebound prop for Tuesday is sitting at 6.5 (Over -120) while her player models are calling for more than nine boards.

The Wings play a frenetic pace on offense, ranked out No. 2 in tempo, and have attempted the most shots per game so far this season with almost 76 field attempts an outing. Without those big bodies under the basketball, Dallas has been pushed around for a rebound rate of just 46.3% — third-lowest in the league.

The Lynx, on the other hand, are the third-best defensive rebounding team in the land, with a rate of 73.7% on that end of the floor. Collier will continue to be class on the glass tonight.

Napheesa Collier rebounds: Over 6.5 (-120 at bet365)
