Today's best WNBA player props bets

Jewell Dropping Dimes

Jewell Loyd hung 37 points on the Sparks last Saturday, but L.A. coach Curt Miller is going to throw the kitchen sink at the player he crowned “the best No. 2 guard in the world” tonight.

Expect a much more aggressive approach to guarding Loyd this time around, with Los Angeles pressuring the perimeter and trying to take the ball out of her hands after she buried eight 3-pointers against it on the weekend.

That could have Loyd finding her teammates in added space underneath, with her assists projections at five dimes tonight. That’s more than enough to get Over her total of 3.5 assists (Over -130). If you're feeling froggy or don't want to lay the -130 juice, you can roll the dice and bet Loyd to record five or more assists at +170.

Loyd is averaging 3.8 assists per game and had six helpers in the loss at Los Angeles on the weekend. This second of a home-and-home set with L.A. has a bigger total than Saturday’s showdown and game script is calling for plenty of points from both sides in Seattle this evening.

Jewell Loyd Total Assists: Over 3.5 (-130 at bet365)

Sky High

The Chicago Sky are running hot and cold to start the season, with a chance to blast the heat with the Indiana Fever coming to the Windy City.

Veteran guard Courtney Williams is settling into her new home in Chicago, scoring 12 or more points in four of the Sky’s seven games this season. She enters Tuesday averaging 9.3 points per game with solid floor time, playing almost 33 minutes per game with the Sky running a short bench due to injuries.

Her player models for Tuesday are calling for 13.7 points against a modest points prop of 9.5, with the vig on this market varying from book to book. You can get Over 9.5 points from Williams at +100 at FanDuel, presenting solid +EV on this WNBA prop pick.

Williams and the Sky face a Fever defense allowing more than 82 points per game to start the year and ranking No. 8 in defensive rating.

Indiana has made leaps and bounds already in 2023 but runs the risk of a letdown spot Tuesday. The Fever took the reigning WNBA champion Aces to the brink last time out, losing by four as closing 15-point home underdogs Sunday.

Courtney Williams Total Points: Over 9.5 (+100 at FanDuel)

Sun Stroke

The Sun find themselves at the top of the Eastern Conference, set for a showdown with the best in the West — the Las Vegas Aces — Tuesday.

While both clubs sit near the top of the defensive ratings, this total is spiking at 167 points. That paints the picture of a higher-scoring finish and Connecticut will need its stars to shine against a high-powered Aces roster.

Tiffany Hayes has been one of those standout contributors for Connecticut in her first season with the franchise. The 5-foot-10 guard is averaging 12.9 points per game but has posted point outputs of 17, nine, 22, 16, and 13 in her last five outings.

Hayes’ player projections for tonight's monster matchup range from 16.2 to a ceiling of 19.1 points, with my number at 17 points from the former UConn product.

Over the last five games, Hayes has dug in for major minutes and is shooting exceptionally well. She’s hitting 56.3% from the floor, including a near 48% success rate from beyond the arc. Hayes is knocking down 2.2 triples per contest in that span and faces an Aces defense that’s not as great as it seems.

Overall, Las Vegas owns the best defensive rating in the WNBA but has suffocated bad teams while allowing bigger point totals to quality foes. The Aces’ defensive lapses nearly led to them being stunned as 15-point road chalk at Indiana this past weekend.

They’re doing a bad job protecting the perimeter, with foes firing at a 38.1% clip (second-worst defense against triples) for an average of eight makes from 3-point range.

Hayes has a point prop of 13.5 versus Vegas tonight with the Over an expensive -135. However, if you don’t want to lay that lumber, you could take her to score 15 or more points at -110 in the milestone markets.

Tiffany Hayes Total Points: Over 13.5 (-135 at bet365)
