The playoff push is fully underway, and the injury-riddled Indiana Fever will look for a crucial win at home tonight against the visiting Minnesota Lynx.

My Lynx vs. Fever prediction expects another big scoring performance from Kelsey Mitchell, albeit in a losing effort.

Read on for my WNBA picks for Friday, August 22.

Lynx vs Fever predictions

My Lynx vs Fever best bet: Kelsey Mitchell 20+ points (-148 via FanDuel)

Caitlin Clark has missed the last 13 games, and the injuries have continued to pile up for the Indiana Fever as of late. Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson both sustained season-ending injuries two weeks ago, and the same fate befell Sophie Cunningham last Sunday.

Mitchell leads Indiana in the scoring department with a career-high 20.4 points per game. Over her last eight, she’s averaged 22.5 points and scored at least 20 points five times.

She’s reached that scoring mark in three of her last four overall and two of her previous three at home. On the season, Mitchell has scored 20+ points in 19 of 35 games, including 10 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Mitchell has been picking up the slack on offense all season, and she’ll be expected to shoulder a hefty load on Friday night. The Minnesota Lynx defense is elite, but someone’s got to score the ball.

Fresh off a 38-point performance in Indiana’s comeback win over the Connecticut Sun, I expect Mitchell to keep the hot hand.

Lynx vs Fever same-game parlay (SGP)

Kelsey Mitchell Over 20.5 points

Lynx -6.5

Under 164.5

Over the last six games, the Fever are just 2-4 straight up and 1-5 ATS. In its previous game, Indiana survived the Connecticut Sun with a 99-93 victory on the back of Mitchell’s monster scoring night. Conversely, the Lynx are 4-2 straight up and 3-3 ATS with Napheesa Collier out of action.

The Fever are down multiple key players, and their latest win was a struggle against arguably the W’s worst team. Collier sat out yesterday’s loss, but she could return for the second night of Minnesota’s back-to-back set.

I’m taking the Lynx to cover regardless of their status, as they are the more talented team and hungry to get back on track following a two-game losing streak. The Commissioner’s Cup loss to Indiana will surely on Minnesota’s mind, too.

Indiana has hit the Under in three of its last six, and Minnesota is 1-4-1 to the Under in that span. On the season, Minnesota is 17-18-1 to the Under, and Indiana is 17-19. Minnesota has allowed just 77.9 points per game across its last eight road games, and Indiana may struggle to score. Bet the Under.
