The New York Liberty are among the best defensive teams in the league, putting up a defensive rating of 102.2 while allowing only 82.3 ppg.
That has served them well against the Washington Mystics, who not only play slowly – they average just 81.1 possessions per 40 minutes, the second-slowest total in the WNBA – but are also inefficient, with a 48.9% effective field goal percentage.
That’s played out when these two teams have met up recently, with totals below tonight’s number in six of their last seven games. I like the Under at anything above 165 points.
COVERS INTEL: The Liberty hold opponents to 0.90 points per play, the second-lowest mark in the WNBA and bad news for Washington, which puts up the same 0.90 points per play total on offense.
Mystics vs Liberty same-game parlay
The Liberty had little trouble handling the Mystics on Sunday, beating them by 22 points to record their 10th straight win over Washington.
I’m expecting a similar outcome tonight, as New York boasts one of the most talented rosters in the league and should outclass the Mystics at home.
New York has a depth of star players, and Jonquel Jones can sometimes get overlooked behind Breanna Stewart (19.7 ppg) and – when she’s healthy – Sabrina Ionescu.
But the center is putting up 14.2 ppg and has scored 16+ in each of her last three outings, including going for 20 against the Mystics on Sunday. I love Jones to hit her scoring Over tonight.
