The Seattle Storm are so close to finally clinching a WNBA playoff berth. Completing a season-series sweep of the New York Liberty should all but do it.

New York might be locked into the postseason, but they’re far from their title perch from a season ago.

My Liberty vs. Storm predictions and WNBA picks have Seattle playing as the more desperate of the two teams on Friday, September 5.

Liberty vs Storm predictions

My Liberty vs Storm best bet: Storm -1.5 (-115 at bet365)

The Seattle Storm could have put a stake in the Sparks, but ninth-seeded L.A. topped them 91-85 when last seen, keeping their slim playoff hopes alive.

The Storm have two games left and are two games up on L.A., who have a couple of games in hand. But they can rest easy with a win over the New York Liberty, and they’ve handled business against the defending champs this season.

After riding a seven-game losing skid to New York heading into this season, they’ve beaten them in back-to-back games. The Storm have turned them over 38 times in the two matchups, converting those into 42 points.

They’ve also been the better bet against the spread, going 6-1 ATS vs. the Liberty in the last seven matchups.

New York is just trying to find some rhythm before the playoffs. They are 2-2 since Breanna Stewart returned from a lengthy injury, and New York’s offense has been brutal in two straight.

They were handled 80-63 by Phoenix, then held to a season-low in a 66-58 loss to Golden State.

Seattle is not their get-right opponent, and despite the Storm being the only Top 8 team with a losing home record, look for them to do what needs to be done to get into the playoffs.

Liberty vs Storm same-game parlay (SGP)

Storm -1.5

Breanna Stewart Under 17.5 points

Gabby Williams Over 10.5 points

Stewart has been up and down in the four games since she’s come back. She had 19 points against Golden State but on a rough 4-for-15 shooting night.

Prior to that, she’d gone Under 17.5 points in back-to-back games. Last time she played Seattle, Stewart went 4-for-17 for eight points. We’ll target the Under here.

Let's take a flier on Gabby Williams, who had just eight points in 33 minutes against Los Angeles.

It’s the fourth time in seven games she’s scored in the single-digits, but she led the team in scoring against New York last game and has topped her 10.5 scoring line twice against the Liberty this season.
