Their five-game losing streak now in the rearview, the Atlanta Dream try to make it back-to-back wins when they host the Portland Fire.

Since hitting a season-best 6-4 record on May 30, the Fire have just three wins in their last 12 games and sit outside of the league’s Top 8.

Thankfully, my Fire vs. Dream predictions and WNBA picks aren't counting wins and losses, but the many points Portland's getting from a team that hasn’t covered in seven straight games.

Fire vs Dream prediction

Fire vs Dream best bet: Fire +12.5 (-105)

This Atlanta Dream offense has cooled, averaging just 79.8 points over its last six games, and while they'll still have some advantages in this game, it's not enough to justify this massive 12.5-point spread.

Portland's defense hasn't stopped a thing lately, but Atlanta hasn't won a game by this margin since June 20. The Dream have failed to cover in seven straight games, including Thursday's win over Seattle, where they were also 12.5-point favorites at home.

That all points to taking the points with Portland, and I'd happily do it at +8.5 or better.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Despite just picking up three wins in their last eight, the Fire have been a great ATS bet. They've covered the spread in three straight and are 6-2 ATS in those games.

Fire vs Dream same-game parlay

It’s been big scoring of late for Portland’s Carla Leite, who has put up at least 16 points in four of the Fire’s last six, but her opponents this week were the lowly Storm (twice), Sky (twice), and a Mystics side just hanging on to the final playoff berth.

Atlanta boasts the No. 3 scoring defense in the league and should be able to limit the Fire’s point guard.

I’m also taking the Under on Alisha Gray’s inflated 18.5-point line. Yes, she’s gone back-to-back games with 22 points, but before that, Gray had only scored 19+ points in a game twice in her previous 12.
