Reneau vs Tate betting preview

Marion Reneau announced she would retire after this fight, and the 44-year-old has enjoyed a successful career in MMA despite what her recent record suggests. Reneau has lost four fights in a row by way of unanimous decision, most recently against Macy Chiasson in March.

The "Belizean Bruiser" has power in her hands and eight of her nine career wins have come within the distance.

It's a bit crazy to think that Miesha "Cupcake" Tate is 10 years younger than Reneau when you consider that she won the Strikeforce bantamweight title all the way back in 2011 and has been retired since a 2016 decision loss to Raquel Pennington.

Tate has notable victories over Holly Holm, Jessica Eye, and Sarah McMann, along with title-fight losses to greats like Ronda Rousey (twice) and Amanda Nunes. Cupcake is at her best on the mat, where she can rely on her strong wrestling, high-end grappling ability, and vicious ground-and-pound.

Reneau vs Tate UFC predictions and betting picks

PREDICTION: Moneyline Miesha Tate (-144) - This is a tough fight to bet on because as much as I don't want to trust a fighter who has been out of the game for almost five years, I also can't back a 44-year-old on a losing streak.

Stylistically though, I think Tate has the advantage because her takedowns and wrestling ability will pose problems for Reneau, who isn't the best off her back and has subpar defensive wrestling ability.

This won't be the most exciting of co-main events (and frankly, I'm not sure why it even has that distinction) but Tate was a big-time fighter at one point in her career and should be able to grind out a win here.
