Petr Yan vs Deiveson Figueiredo Odds, Picks & Predictions

With Petr Yan being a cut above Deiveson Figueiredo and known for rarely submitting his opponents, we expect the Russian to prevail on the judges' scorecards in the latest UFC Fight Night main event.

Petr Yan faces off against Deiveson Figueiredo in the main event for UFC Fight Night betting this Saturday from the Galaxy Arena in Macau, China. This should be a banger between the former bantamweight champion in Yan and the former two-time flyweight champ in Figueiredo.

UFC odds have Yan as a -350 favorite for this bantamweight bout and I'm betting on him to outpoint Figueriedo over five rounds. Here are my best free UFC Fight Night: Yan vs. Figueiredo predictions for November 23.

Yan vs Figueiredo prediction and pick

Fight analysis

Deiveson Figueiredo has looked impressive since making the move up to 135 pounds last year, picking up wins against Rob Font, Cody Garbrandt, and Marlon Vera. Meanwhile, Yan is fresh off a unanimous decision win against Song Yadong, which snapped a three-fight losing streak.

However, those defeats all came against highly-ranked opponents and Yan didn't look bad in those fights. He had close split-decision losses to former champs Aljamain Sterling and Sean O'Malley while getting outwrestled by current champ Merab Dvalishvili — who has been able to spam takedowns against everybody.

Figueiredo's cardio and durability should be better at bantamweight but his power is less of a game-changer than it was at 125 pounds. He's also turning 37 next month, which makes him five years older than Yan. There's typically a decline in performance around that age in the lower weight classes as speed starts to diminish.

Yan boasts superior technical boxing, better footwork, and stronger wrestling skills. Although his biggest weakness is starting slow, this is a five-round main event that will give him time to analyze Figueiredo and find his rhythm.

Even if Yan gives away the first round, he'll get better as the fight goes on and pull away from Figueiredo.

Best best analysis

Yan rarely looks for submissions, and when he does win by knockout, it's usually through an accumulation of damage rather than sheer power.

His last five fights have gone the distance and he has just two wins by stoppage in his last 10 bouts. Those finishes came against a washed-up, 40-year-old Urijah Faber and a late fifth-round TKO versus Jose Aldo.

Figueiredo is a tough fighter and has only been finished by Brandon Moreno in his MMA career. His durability should be better now that he's not draining himself to cut to 125 points. That should help him make it to the final bell, but he'll still come out on the losing side.
