Ante Delija is hoping for a rebound after a disappointing defeat, and Serghei Spivac is trying to avoid his fourth loss in five fights when these heavyweights face off in our featured undercard attraction of this weekend’s UFC Fight Night.

Delija is the UFC odds favorite at -150 while Spivac is a +120 underdog. My Spivac vs. Ante predictions and free betting picks anticipate chalk players prevailing on Saturday, February 21.

Serghei Spivac vs Ante Delija prediction and best bet

Fight analysis
Anton Delija and Serghei Spivac are both coming off losses to Waldo Cortes-Acosta, but their circumstances vary greatly.

Delija was on the verge of a stoppage win when the referee called a break mid-flurry due to an eye poke. A spent Delija couldn’t defend himself when the revitalized Cortes-Acosta came at him.

Spivac, unable to impose his wrestling, was outworked in the striking battle and lost a wide decision.

There is a lot to like in Delija. He’s a strong, sharp striker who uses his footwork and combination striking to unsettle his opponent before landing a finishing blow.

While he is primarily a striker, he has shown in the past that he can defend takedowns and stay off the mat. This will be important because Spivac has to close the distance and get him on the mat, and Delija needs to make him pay every time he tries.

Spivac isn’t going to try to make this a striking match, and if he can impose his grappling, he won’t have to. The Moldavian has emerged as one of the most relentless grapplers in the division and can be an absolute terror if he establishes top control, but there’s not much else if he doesn’t.

Four of Spivac’s six losses have come by knockout, so he doesn’t have the damage resistance or striking ability to rely on if his grappling fails.

This matchup favors the faster and heavier-handed Delija.

Best bet analysis
When Spivac fails to establish his grappling, he becomes extremely vulnerable in open space. Delija’s ability to maintain distance and punish entries should create finishing opportunities as the fight progresses.

My best bet is for Delija to win by knockout.
