Volkanovski has spent years beating elite featherweights and rewarding bettors. At 51% on Kalshi against Movsar Evloev, I’m backing him to keep it rolling.

Wondering how to bet on Volkanovski this weekend? My Volkanovski vs. Evloev prediction is simple: back the champion to win at 51% on Kalshi.

Here’s why Alexander Volkanovski’s striking, grappling resistance, and betting record make him my pick at UFC 333.

Why are we underestimating Alexander Volkanovski again?

What exactly does Alexander Volkanovski have to do to get a little more respect?

He’s beaten José Aldo, Max Holloway three times, and a long list of contenders who were supposed to give him problems. This includes bouncing back from losing his featherweight belt by beating Diego Lopes twice, and the fights weren’t close.

Yet heading into his UFC 333 title defense against Movsar Evloev on October 24, we’re getting him at 51% to win on Kalshi.

Evloev deserves his shot. He’s undefeated, his wrestling is excellent, and he’s beaten some serious competition.

But I think we’re giving the challenger too much credit while making the champion prove himself all over again. That’s been a profitable theme for Volk bettors, and I’m happy to run it back.

Volkanovski’s betting record is almost as impressive as his resume

Usually, backing a dominant champion means swallowing a disgusting price. You’re risking a lot to win a little, often limiting your options to throwing the champ on a parlay or needing to back them in a prop market just to get a worthwhile return.

Volkanovski has often offered a much better deal.

He’s 13-1 in UFC featherweight fights, with Ilia Topuria being the only fighter to beat him at 145 lbs.

If you blindly risked $100 on Volk in each of those fights, you’d be up approximately $708–$785, based on the closing ranges archived by BestFightOdds. Even taking the worst listed closing price for every win leaves you more than $700 ahead.

That’s a return of roughly 51%–56%. Here’s how it compares with some other fighters who made a habit of beating everyone in their division:

Fighter’s UFC run Profit from $100 per fight ROI
Volkanovski at featherweight $708–$785 51%–56%
Jon Jones at light heavyweight $654–$677 30%–31%
Khabib Nurmagomedov at lightweight $528–$548 48%–50%
Islam Makhachev at lightweight $304–$370 19%–23%

Calculations use archived sportsbook closing ranges and exclude catchweight fights and fights outside the named divisions. Jones’ total counts his second Cormier fight as a winning wager based on the result announced that night, before it was overturned.

Obviously, those wins won’t help Volk stuff a takedown on Saturday. But they show how consistently he’s rewarded bettors without always carrying the enormous price attached to other dominant champions.

Volkanovski vs Evloev analysis

Evloev keeps winning, but he isn’t obliterating anyone

Evloev is 20–0 with 10 UFC wins, all by decision, including victories over Lerone Murphy, Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen and Diego Lopes.

Those are legitimate opponents. But the way he’s beaten them matters when assessing his chances against an all-time great like Volk.

He beat Allen and Sterling 29–28 on every scorecard. Those victories required him to grind out rounds, and I expect Volk to make that job much harder.

Evloev then needed all five rounds to beat Murphy by majority decision. A point deduction tightened the scorecards, but it was another night without a finish.

Now he has to outwork and outscore Volkanovski, whose striking and championship experience make the assignment considerably tougher.

Volk has the striking advantage

This is where I expect the champion to separate himself.

Volkanovski lands 5.99 significant strikes per minute, compared with 3.91 for Evloev. He also holds the accuracy advantage, 57% to 47%. Those career numbers include ground strikes, but the gap in offensive output is substantial.

I favor Volk’s jab, combinations, and ability to get opponents reacting to his feints. He can score while making Evloev reset, and I expect him to do more damage when they’re exchanging on the feet.

The concern is how often he gets to do that. Evloev’s wrestling threat could make Volk more cautious, while repeatedly defending takedowns could drain his legs and limit his offense.

That’s the challenge. But Volk’s last performance gives me confidence he can still execute a disciplined plan over five rounds.

He beat Lopes 49–46, 49–46 and 50–45 in their rematch. We aren’t digging through footage from five years ago to find evidence this guy can still fight (no offense, Conor McGregor).

I love what Volk showed against Islam

When I think about how Volk handles Evloev’s grappling, I keep coming back to the first Makhachev fight.

Volk moved up a division and held his own against an elite grappler. He stuffed five of nine takedown attempts, stayed competitive for five rounds, and finished strongly.

Volk defended dangerous positions and kept fighting. He recorded the only knockdown and finished with a 70–57 advantage in significant strikes landed.

I loved seeing him remain that competitive against someone as good as Islam. It gives me confidence he can make Evloev work for his takedowns and prevent him from spending the night comfortably controlling the fight.

My UFC 333 prediction: Volkanovski to win

Volkanovski has spent years beating elite featherweights while rewarding anyone willing to back him. After consecutive wins over Lopes, we’re still getting him at 51% on Kalshi against a challenger who has yet to finish a UFC opponent.

I love the striking advantage, and his resistance against Islam gives me confidence he can make Evloev earn everything in the grappling exchanges.

This feels like another opportunity to back an all-time great who rarely gets priced like one. At 51% on Kalshi, I love Volk to remind everyone how good he still is.

Pick: Alexander Volkanovski to win — 51% on Kalshi.
