Stony Brook @ Syracuse preview
Carrier Dome
Syracuse is making progress, especially on offense, although its record doesn’t reflect that. The good news is, after hanging with the No. 2 team in the country for three quarters last week, the Orange should have little problem ending a seven-game losing streak at home Saturday against FCS foe Stony Brook. Syracuse was within striking distance early in the fourth quarter against Southern California before fading in a 42-29 loss at the Meadowlands. Meanwhile, the Seawolves, who represent the Big South, have won 10 straight regular-season contests following a 77-7 rout of Pace last week. Stony Brook will make the five-hour drive north for the first meeting. The Orange has won 28 straight against FCS teams and hasn’t lost to a non-FBS school since 1958.

ABOUT SYRACUSE (0-2): Syracuse trailed 21-16 early in the fourth quarter against USC, but couldn’t pull off the upset. Ryan Nassib threw for 322 yards and two touchdowns, while adding another on the ground. The Orange continues to put up big numbers utilizing a new no-huddle offense. Syracuse outgained the mighty Trojans 455-445 and had more first downs (27-17). Senior Marcus Sales hauled in eight passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns, giving him 19 catches for 221 yards and three scores in two games. The issue is a defense that has given up 84 points over the first two contests.
