Colorado has a major matchup advantage against Jake Irvin, who has struggled heavily this season, particularly at home. The Rockies have five elite-rated hitters and three more with strong ratings, with seven of those eight bats hitting from the left side. Over his last 60 left-handed hitters faced, Irvin has an 8.36 ERA while allowing a 50% hard-hit rate, 9.5% barrel rate and 2.57 HR/9. Those lefties have posted a .294 xBA, .636 xSLG and .304 ISO against him. Colorado's offense has also been productive this past week, posting a .334 wOBA and .749 OPS.

The Rockies have a great home run matchup today against Jake Irvin in one of the best hitting parks on the slate, and I'm taking a No. 2 hitter with an OPS above .800 who went yard last night at nearly +700. Cole Carrigg is a name lost on most, much like the entire Rockies lineup, but the switch-hitting 24-year-old is paying a big price. He has an OPS above .800 against both lefties and righties and took lefty reliever Will Dion 400 feet deep last night. The entire Rockies lineup has a good chance to go deep today after putting up four homers yesterday. Hunter Goodman has gone yard in back-to-back games, but I struggle to play +250 to +270 odds on a home run. Irvin is the best HR target on the board today. He has the fifth-worst HR/9 among all MLB starters over the last 30 days, the 20th-worst HR/FB rate, and the 25th-worst HardHit%. There could be a handful of dingers in this game.

Star rating: 4 out of 5
When it comes to his overall offensive talent, Jordan Walker ranks in the 91st percentile according to the leading projections (THE BAT X).. Jordan Walker is projected to hit 3rd in the lineup in this matchup.. The weather report expects temperatures in this contest to reach the 2nd-highest level of all games on the slate at 84°, which is highly linked to an increase in offense (and a reduction in strikeouts).. Jordan Walker will have the benefit of the platoon advantage against Trevor Rogers in today's game.. Jordan Walker hits a lot of his flyballs to center field (40% — 98th percentile) and sets up very well considering he'll be hitting out towards the game's 7th-shallowest CF fences in today's matchup.

Jose Fermin will have the benefit of the platoon advantage against Trevor Rogers in today's matchup.. Jose Fermin will hold the home field advantage today, which ought to bolster all of his stats.. Jose Fermin has made substantial strides with his Barrel% recently, bettering his 2.8% seasonal rate to 15.4% over the last week.

Yordan Alvarez draws a cinematic matchup against Yankees ace Gerrit Cole, and we are backing the Astros slugger to take advantage. Alvarez has cashed this prop almost 65% of the time when carrying an elite rating on Batters-Box this season. Cole is also a fastball-heavy pitcher, which plays directly into Alvarez’s strengths. This season, Alvarez owns a .306 BA, .412 xBA and 1.096 OPS, while posting a 57% hard-hit rate against fastballs. Over his last ten batted balls, five have topped 102.2 MPH. Add in a hitter-friendly ballpark, and we just need Alvarez to catch one fastball tonight in this spot and cash.

Luis Garcia Jr. owns ISOs of .260 or higher against each of the four pitches Hayden Wesneski uses at least 10% of the time against left-handed hitters.

That includes a whopping .667 ISO against the sweeper, which Wesneski throws at more than a 30% clip.

Play to +295.

The math is simple here: the Toronto Blue Jays ran through seven arms last night in a full bullpen game - Spencer Arrighetti has no help behind him. The one thing we need from him is his command; his 13% walk rate this season is the highest of his career and would, of course, elevate his pitch count.

Jacob Misiorowski can coast into his NL Cy Young win this year, but the innings are stacking up, and the Brewers are 6.5 games up on the Cubs for the top spot in the NL Central. This is a young arm with 145 innings already and a hopeful long playoff run ahead. He threw just 130 innings all of last year, so Milwaukee has plenty of reason to manage his workload. The projection today is 91 pitches and 7.55 strikeouts. The righty has had a long leash in his last two starts, throwing 98 and 96 pitches while recording 18 outs in both. He failed to reach seven Ks in either outing. There are plenty of outs to this Under: he could be on a tighter leash, fail to reach nine Ks even with a full workload, or have his start shortened by the threat of rain. Then there's the possibility of big winds blowing out today at Citi Field, which could make things even tougher. The projections think this is a full strikeout too long.

I debated this pick with William Contreras at +450ish, but settled on the more probable home run after taking a long shot in the Rockies game. Sean Manaea gets hit hard by right-handed bats, and Jackson Chourio could see five plate appearances today out of the leadoff spot. With Jake Bauers on the bench, Chourio is the best HR hitter in this lineup, head and shoulders above Brice Turang, who struggles against left-handed pitching. The Mets starter has allowed 13 home runs across his last 54 innings and five long balls over his last three games, including a trio of homers in his last outing against the White Sox. He ranks in the bottom 20 among all MLB starters in HR/9 and HR/FB rate over the last 30 days, along with the third-worst HardHit% at 49.4%. I would bet this down to +350 and think the Brewers have a Top-3 HR matchup on the slate today.

I'm betting on motivation and a long leash from Yoshinobu Yamamoto today. The Dodgers are in danger of being swept by the Braves, something that has already happened three times since the start of July and zero times before that. Los Angeles needs the best of Yamamoto today, and the matchup against Chris Sale should bring out the most in an elite pitcher who has a track record of thriving in higher-leverage opportunities. The LA starter has a 100-pitch leash and has hit this prop in 50% of his starts since the start of July, while coming off back-to-back nine-K outings. Atlanta is a Top-15 K% matchup, and even if this is slightly below 50% probable, the price is still solid expected value. I have this around 48% today, putting the fair price at just under even money after accounting for the margin.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have played 10 games where both teams were above .500 and starting a pitcher with a 3.25 ERA or lower, winning seven of them for +3.7 units on the moneyline.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto owns a spotless 0.90 WHIP this season and will be tough on an Atlanta Braves offense sitting 22nd in xwOBA vs. right-handed pitching in August.

Back LA to -115.

The Over 8.5 is supported by two respectable offenses and vulnerable bullpens. Arizona can chip in against Roupp and a San Francisco pen with recent issues, while the Giants get a strong scoring path against Cabrera and a Diamondbacks relief corps allowing too many homers lately.

San Francisco has the cleaner profile with its offense carrying a 113 wRC+ over the last week. Jose Cabrera has struggled with command and owns a 5.46 FIP this season, while Landen Roupp’s home form at Oracle Park gives the Giants enough stability tonight.

Ranger Suarez has started four games against teams ranking Top-10 in OPS vs. left-handed pitching, allowing 13 runs and posting a 6.13 ERA during those games. The New York Yankees lead the majors in OPS against lefties so they’re a prime candidate to cause Suarez problems. Playable to -145.

The Giants are pacing the majors in wOBA and are fourth in xwOBA while averaging 5.5 runs per game across the past 30 days, and the Braves ranks ninth in wOBA against right-handed pitchers and third in overall xwOBA, so I think this total is too low.

The Braves have dropped five of six while averaging just 2.8 runs per game and ranking 29th in wOBA without Ronald Acuna Jr. (hamstring), and it’s been a smoke-and-mirrors start for veteran lefty Martin Perez, and there’s serious statistical correction ahead of his .230 BABIP and 80.2% strand rate considering they’re both high-end marks about pitchers with at least 60 innings this season. San Francisco is just the offense to kick-start the regression, too. The Giants are pacing the majors in wOBA and fourth in xwOBA over the past 30 days, after all.

What Is An MLB Computer Pick?

MLB picks are bet suggestions based on our computer's assessment of the game. Tons of betting data goes into a computer pick, including pitching matchups, injury reports, analytics, and even recent betting trends.

How To Use MLB Computer Picks

You can use the tables above to help with your bets during the MLB season. The first section includes free, computer-generated picks for daily Major League Baseball games. Baseball bettors can choose to follow the computer, fade the computer, or simply use our computer picks as one element of their betting strategy.

This page also tees up access to deeper betting trends. For example, if a club's run line is favored, you can check their ATS trends, potentially opening up some quality underdog bets.

If you're ready to get started with MLB betting, visit our dedicated page highlighting the best MLB betting sites.

Moneyline

This is the most common and easiest wager for a bettor to make when it comes to MLB picks. Basically, to win an MLB moneyline pick, you just have to choose which team will win the game.

It's simple: if you bet the White Sox moneyline over the Red Sox and Chicago wins, you win your bet.

Run line

The run line is another name for a point spread that you may be more familiar with in NBA and NFL betting. A point spread varies in the NFL and NBA from as little as 0.5 points up to double-digit spreads. A baseball run line is almost always a 1.5-point spread.

The favorite will be -1.5 while the underdog will be +1.5. At the end of the game, if you take away 1.5 runs from the favorite or add 1.5 runs to the underdog and they end up winning the game, you win your MLB pick against the spread.

Totals (Over/Under)

Another common wager is to bet on the total in baseball, which is a bet on the total runs scored in the baseball game. You are simply choosing whether the final score will be Over or Under that total. Betting the Over/Under on a matchup is a great way to get started in MLB score predictions.

More MLB Picks & Betting Tools

NRFI/YRFI MLB Picks

A new and emerging MLB betting market is the NRFI/YRFI bet. These are quick-hitters in which you make a wager on the O/U total of the first inning, typically set at 0.5 runs. Thus, the bet is coined as No Run First Inning or Yes Run First Inning. No need to wait a couple of hours to cash a bet when it could be done in 20 minutes or less.

First Five Innings MLB Picks

The above options, moneyline, run line, and Over/Under, can also be placed on the first five innings of a game rather than the full game. Many experienced bettors will use this approach because, typically, this will take bullpens out of the equation and make your job researching the game easier. After all, you can just focus on the starting pitchers.

MLB Picks And Parlays

If you want to combine multiple games into one mega wager, you may consider making a parlay bet. A parlay is when you pick two or more MLB games on one single betting ticket, which will increase the payout of your bet.

But it also comes with more risk, as each of those MLB picks must hit for your ticket to pay out. Our parlay calculator is a great tool to find out what your potential payout would be.

If you're looking for more MLB picks content, check out our consensus picks and prop bets pages to get your fix. While you're at it, head over to our MLB promos page to get the best bang for your buck.

MLB Player Props

Player props are a great way to hone in on an individual matchup for a game. These types of wagers will be individualized for a player: Will Shohei Ohtani hit a home run? Will Gerrit Cole get seven strikeouts? Will Paul Skenes allow two earned runs?

You simply choose whether this outcome will happen or not. Keeping up to date on daily pitching matchups and batters on a hot streak can give you a huge boost when placing player prop bets.

MLB Futures Picks

Lastly, prior to the season and even throughout the season, you can place futures bets on all the long-term awards and outcomes. You can lock in an MLB pick on who will win their division, which squad will win the World Series, or even who will win the Rookie of the Year, MVP, or Cy Young.
