Atlanta @ Florida preview
Sun Life Stadium
Last Meeting ( Aug 9, 2011 ) Atlanta 4, Florida 3
THE STORY: The Atlanta Braves have had the Florida Marlins' number, especially in Miami. And former Marlins star Dan Uggla is doing his part to make sure that continues. Red-hot Uggla and the Braves will try to finish off a three-game sweep Wednesday. Uggla extended his hitting streak to 30 games with an infield single Tuesday to match the Los Angeles Dodgers' Andre Ethier for the longest streak in the majors this season. Uggla is one game from matching Rico Carty's franchise record of 31 straight in 1970.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Braves RH Tim Hudson (11-7, 3.22 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Anibal Sanchez (6-5, 3.73).
Hudson has won his last two starts and five of his last six decisions, and he has posted nine consecutive quality starts. He was effective Friday against the Mets, allowing only one run and three hits over seven innings in a 4-1 victory. Hudson is 10-4 with a 2.97 ERA in 21 starts against Florida. He is 1-1 against the Marlins this year, losing a 5-1 decision April 13 and holding them to one run over seven innings for a 5-1 win July 30. Sanchez was on the wrong end of a 3-2 loss to St. Louis on Friday, keeping him winless since June 10. He is 0-4 with a 4.70 ERA in 10 starts during the skid and has lost his last two starts, including a 5-1 loss to the Braves on July 30. He allowed four runs over five innings in that one. Sanchez is 4-8 with a 4.63 ERA in 14 starts against Atlanta.
ABOUT THE BRAVES (68-49): The Braves have won five of six to maintain a strong hold on the National League wild card race. Martin Prado capped his first four-hit game of the season with an RBI single to drive in the eventual winning run Tuesday. Prado also hit his first home run since July 22. Alex Gonzalez has hit in 10 straight games. The Braves have won eight of 11 meetings with Florida this season, and have allowed only 27 runs.
ABOUT THE MARLINS (55-61): The Marlins have lost the first six games of their homestand to drop to 24-38 at Sun Life Stadium. The Marlins are slowly getting healthy as Logan Morrison returned to the lineup Tuesday. They are still waiting to get shortstop Hanley Ramirez back from a shoulder injury and second baseman Omar Infante is on the disabled list with a broken finger. John Buck has hit home runs in each of the first two games of the series. His three-run shot in the seventh inning Tuesday tied it 3-3.
FINAL PITCH: Braves catcher Brian McCann is eligible to return from the disabled list Friday, but the Braves don't expect him back then. The team doesn't want to rush McCann back from an oblique injury, so he might not begin a rehab assignment until this weekend.
