The Houston Astros and Texas Rangers meet tonight in the battle of the Lone Star State at Globe Life Field.

Hunter Brown is dominating this year, and I’ll dive into why he’ll have another impressive outing in my Astros vs. Rangers predictions.

Astros vs Rangers prediction

My Astros vs Rangers best bet: Hunter Brown Over 6.5 strikeouts (+100 at Bet365)

Hunter Brown has emerged as the Houston Astros ace in 2025. He’s been carving up virtually every opponent, going 6-1 in eight starts with an outstanding 1.48 ERA. The righty has also struck out 58 in 48.2 innings of work. That will be my focus for this bet.

The 26-year-old has comfortably cashed the Over in Ks in four straight appearances, racking up nine strikeouts in each of those outings. Brown has electric stuff, and that’s been evident all year long so far. Tonight, he comes up against a Rangers offense that is 26th in runs scored, 23rd in average, and strikes out an average of 7.7 times per contest.

Surprisingly, this current Texas Rangers lineup is hitting just over .300 versus Brown, and he only has 15 strikeouts in 90 at-bats. Regardless, I believe in his hot hand. He’ll benefit from the Rangers’ struggles and miss his fair share of bats this evening on the road.

Astros vs Rangers same-game parlay (SGP)

Hunter Brown Over 6.5 strikeouts

Jacob deGrom Under 1.5 walks allowed

Marcus Semien Over 0.5 hits

This contest is going to be an absolute battle on the hill with Brown facing Rangers ace Jacob deGrom, who is finally healthy and dealing again. The righty is 3-1 with a 2.72 ERA in eight starts. While we could certainly pinpoint his over/under for earned runs or strikeouts, I’ll instead focus on deGrom’s command.

The veteran has allowed just 10 free passes in 43 innings of work. He consistently pounds the strike zone and rarely even gets behind in counts. deGrom has cashed the Under in walks surrendered in four of his last five appearances. He’ll keep that trend going and limit the free passes again.

Marcus Semien is having a miserable season. He’s batting just .179 through 43 games with only three home runs. However, tonight’s matchup is extremely favorable for Semien. While Brown is a stud and one of the best starters in the Majors, Semien has made his life a nightmare.

The second baseman is 12 for 19 lifetime versus Brown (.632). Plus, the 34-year-old cashed the Over in hits in four of his previous five games. Don’t be surprised to see Semien do some more damage at the dish.
