Colorado @ Baltimore preview

Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Last Meeting ( Aug 17, 2013 ) Colorado 4, Baltimore 8

The Baltimore Orioles will try to turn a gift-wrapped victory into a winning streak when they host the Colorado Rockies on Sunday in the finale of their three-game series. Baltimore won 8-4 on Saturday on the strength of a seven-run third inning and benefited from an error, two walks, a wild pitch and a passed ball as it snapped a four-game slide. The Orioles moved within three games of Oakland for the second wild-card spot in the American League and are 5 1/2 games behind Boston in the East.

The Rockies are 6-2 in their last eight games with the help of catcher Wilin Rosario, who is hitting .385 with 11 RBIs during a nine-game hitting streak despite nursing a hamstring injury. The Orioles' Scott Feldman is 1-3 with a 7.66 ERA in four home starts since being acquired from the Chicago Cubs on July 2. He will oppose Jhoulys Chacin, who is coming off a strong performance against San Diego on Monday and has recorded seven straight quality starts.

PITCHING MATCHUP:
Rockies RH Jhoulys Chacin (11-6, 3.18 ERA) vs. Orioles RH Scott Feldman (2-3, 5.18)

Chacin has alternated wins and losses over his last six decisions following a 14-2 victory over the Padres when he yielded one run and five hits in eight innings. The 25-year-old Venezuelan is 4-3 with a 1.87 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and .236 batting average against while yielding one home run in 57 2/3 innings covering nine road starts. Chacin, who has never faced the Orioles, is 2-2 with a 2.19 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in five starts since the All-Star break.

Feldman is 9-9 with a 4.00 ERA in 22 combined starts with the Chicago Cubs and Baltimore, and has pitched only once since Aug. 3. Michael Cuddyer is 7-for-13 with two home runs, three doubles and five RBIs against Feldman, who has three quality starts in seven outings with Baltimore.

WALK-OFFS

1. Baltimore's J.J. Hardy, who leads all shortstops with 22 home runs and 66 RBIs, was a late scratch from Saturday's lineup because of back spasms. He is listed as day-to-day.

2. Rockies closer Rafael Betancourt, who was out since July 14 because of appendicitis, pitched a perfect eighth inning Saturday. Betancourt, who missed nearly a month earlier in the season with a groin injury, has 15 saves in 16 chances.

3. The Orioles lead the major leagues with a .992 fielding percentage and are on pace to commit 48 errors this season. The record for fewest errors in a 162-game season is 65 - set by the Seattle Mariners in 2003 - while the 2007 Colorado Rockies hold the mark for highest fielding percentage at .989.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
