Baltimore Orioles vs Los Angeles Angels Box Score on Jul 27, 2019

On a night when both teams set home run marks, the visiting Baltimore Orioles moved one win away from a four-game sweep by defeating the Los Angeles Angels 8-7 on Saturday night.

The Orioles got home runs from Pedro Severino and Jonathan Villar to give them at least two home runs in 10 consecutive games to set a major league record. But it was a two-run single in the eighth inning from Hanser Alberto that was the difference.

The Angels put on their own power display, getting home runs from Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani and Albert Pujols. The Angels put together one last rally in the ninth inning, getting a run on a David Fletcher single to get to within one, but Mychal Givens struck out Trout with the tying run at third and got Justin Upton to pop out on a full count with the bases loaded for his ninth save.

His solo home run in the sixth inning was Pujols' 100th homer at Angel Stadium, making him the 12th player in major league history to hit at least 100 in two ballparks. He reached the mark at Busch Stadium where he played as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Pujols is also just the third to hit 100 homers in both National League and an American League park, joining Mark McGwire and Frank Robinson.

In a back-and-forth affair, the Orioles saw Severino drive in four runs in the opening three innings. His two-run single in the first inning opened the scoring and his two-run home run in the third, his 10th, gave the Orioles the lead again at 5-4. Villar's home run, his 13th was a solo shot in the sixth inning that broke a 5-5 tie.

The Angels got their first home run on their second batter of the game when Trout went deep against Orioles starter Aaron Brooks. It was Trout's AL-leading 34th home run of the season and his 12th in his past 17 games.

Fletcher hit a two-run double for the Angels in the second inning while Ohtani's solo home run to lead off the bottom of the third inning, his 15th, tied the game 5-5.

After Villar gave the Orioles a 6-5 lead with his home run, Pujols tied it again with his blast over the short wall in right field, just inside the foul pole.

Alberto's go-ahead single in the eighth inning came against Angels reliever Ty Buttrey (6-5). Angels starter Dillon Peters, who was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake earlier Saturday to make the start, gave up five runs on eight hits over four innings, walking two and striking out two.

Brooks gave up five runs on seven hits over five innings with a walk and six strikeouts. Baltimore left-hander Richard Bleier (2-0) pitched a scoreless inning for the victory, handing the ball to Givens with four outs to go.
