Arizona Diamondbacks vs San Francisco Giants Box Score on Aug 10, 2021

Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker couldn't handle Kris Bryant's hard-hit grounder with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night, allowing LaMonte Wade Jr. to score the winning run for the host San Francisco Giants in a wild, 8-7 victory.

The Giants took advantage of two Walker errors to score the walk-off win after Arizona, down 5-0 early in the game and 7-5 entering the ninth, had rallied for two runs off San Francisco closer Jake McGee to temporarily stave off defeat.

Wade led off the bottom of the ninth against Matt Peacock (5-7) with a shot that bounced off Walker's glove for his first error of the inning.

After two infield outs sandwiched a walk to Buster Posey, Bryant went the other way with his hot shot that once again found Walker. The first baseman knocked down the ball but couldn't recover in time to prevent the Giants' second walk-off win of the season.

Zack Littell (1-0), who got the final out of the top of the ninth after the Diamondbacks sent McGee to the showers, was credited with the win.

Arizona rallied to tie the game for a second time after loading the bases against McGee with no outs. Josh VanMeter walked with one out to force in a run, after which Nick Ahmed's sacrifice fly made it 7-7.

Littell came on to strike out Ketel Marte with the potential go-ahead run at second to preserve the tie and set up the walk-off in the bottom of the inning.

Posey singled, homered, walked three times and scored three times for the Giants. His third run came on a double by Brandon Crawford that broke a 5-5 tie in the eighth.

A wild pickoff throw by Sean Poppen later in the inning allowed Crawford to score and give McGee a 7-5 lead with which to work in the ninth.

The Diamondbacks had been shut out on one hit through five innings by Giants left-hander Alex Wood before erupting to erase a 5-0 deficit within seven batters in the sixth.

Consecutive one-out doubles by Zac Gallen, Ahmed and Marte plated the first two runs. One out later, Carson Kelly made it 5-3 with a triple before Asdrubal Cabrera tied it with a two-run homer, his seventh long ball of the season.

Wood completed the inning, finishing charged with five runs and six hits. He didn't walk anyone and struck out five.

Gallen, Arizona's starting pitcher, also made it through six innings. He was charged with five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven.
