Wrexham’s quest for a first home Championship win of the season continues, and they won’t get many better chances than Wednesday’s clash with Oxford United.

Phil Parkinson has hinted at shaking things up after the Red Dragons’ run of four games without a win, and my Wrexham vs. Oxford United predictions signal a breakthrough outing at Stok Cae Ras.

Read on for my free betting picks for this October 22 matchup, with both teams hovering uncomfortably above the relegation zone.

Wrexham vs Oxford United picks and predictions

My Wrexham vs Oxford United best bet: Wrexham moneyline (-102 at Sports Interaction)

This feels like a huge moment in Wrexham’s season, with lofty expectations hanging over the club amid a slow start to Championship life. Home form was supposed to be a strength for the Red Dragons, just as it was last season in League One, but they’ve only picked up three points from five league outings at Stok Cae Ras.

And yet, the more congested the fixture list gets, the more Wrexham’s depth feels like a trump card. The hosts have the luxury of turning to Nathan Broadhead and Sam Smith, who both came off the bench at the weekend, and should field a fresher lineup than the visitors.

Meanwhile, Oxford United’s away form doesn’t inspire confidence. The Rams have only picked up four points from five Championship matches on the road this year, and they’re still missing forward Matt Phillips.

There’s urgency for Wrexham to get on a run, and it starts with taking care of business against teams likely to be fighting relegation all season. So I’m taking the hosts on the moneyline, and counting on Parkinson to send out a bold attacking formation, with Broadhead, Josh Windass, and Kieffer Moore potentially all on the pitch together.

After Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Stoke, Parkinson said: ‘We’ve taken a knock today, but we’ll come back fighting on Wednesday.’ I’m banking on the Red Dragons to do just that.

Wrexham vs Oxford United same-game parlay (SGP)

Wrexham to win

Under 2.5

Nathan Broadhead 1+ shots on target

Though I’m picking Wrexham to walk away with the three points, this could be a grind. The numbers suggest scoring chances will come at a premium, with the Red Dragons cashing the Under 2.5 in five straight outings. That’s also been a winning ticket in three of Oxford United’s past four games.

Broadhead should be a central figure on Wednesday after a 30-minute appearance at the weekend, and Wrexham need a spark in the final third after drawing a blank against a stubborn Stoke defense last time out. I’ll juice up the SGP odds with a wager on at least one shot on target for the Welshman.
