Today’s NHL Prop Picks and Best Bets: No Trouble for This Bruin

Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand has made for some headaches on the Toronto Maple Leafs bench, and our NHL betting picks expect him to keep cashing some Overs for NHL player prop bettors on Saturday night.

It might be the last four-game Saturday slate of the NHL playoffs, so let’s go big today on the prop front and find a trio of well-priced plays covering the 10+ hours of hockey on deck.

Today, I’m backing the best line in the Florida/Tampa series for plus money, betting on a pest in Toronto who has been wildly underpriced in the postseason, and looking for multiple outs on a goalie prop in the nightcap.

Here are my best NHL player props and NHL picks for Saturday, April 27.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Lundell's line

As long as Anton Lundell is playing with Matthew Tkachuk and Carter Verhaeghe who have been the team’s best set of wingers in the postseason, getting the center for a point at anything plus money is a great play.

This afternoon, the Anton Lundell odds are paying +125 to record a point. The Tampa Bay Lightning are down 3-0 and might not have too much fight left in them. The Florida Panthers have scored 12 goals in the series with Verhaeghe and Tkachuk combining for five goals and 10 points.

Since taking over for the injured Sam Bennett, Lundell has assists in back-to-back games and has seen his time on ice go from 14+ minutes to 18 minutes on the second line and second power-play unit. Money Puck has this line at an 83.3% expected goal share, which is the same percent as the Connor McDavid line in Edmonton at 5-on-5.

Tkachuk looks like he is on another Conn Smythe run, and Lundell is along for the ride right now. This price will continue to fall as he stays with the big boys. Florida should wrap up the series today and are -125 road favorites.

Anton Lundell prop: Over 0.5 points (+125 at Bet99)

Prop bet #2: Marchand the money maker

Brad Marchand has been the best skater in the Boston Bruins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs series and leads all players with six points — twice as many points as the Leafs’ leading point-getters. He’s taking advantage of the Leafs’ awful penalty kill with five power-play points, has an assist in each game of the series, and is shooting at a higher rate with 11 shots on goal over his last two games.

You can’t go wrong hopping on any of the Overs in the Brad Marchand odds, which have been very profitable through three games in the series. Both his Over 2.5 SOG and his Over 0.5 assists are plus money and although there has been a slight shortening in odds from Game 3 prices, the 3+ shots at +105 is the best deal of the two plays.

During the regular season (which is how he is priced), Marchand averaged 14.9 shot attempts/60 and 7.93 SOG/60, but so far in the playoffs, those numbers have ballooned to 20.11 and 7.59, respectively. Marchand is a different player in the playoffs but is priced at his regular-season production.

The Leafs are anything but strong defensively and Marchand is getting to the net and getting a ton of chances. He has been one of the most mispriced players in the playoffs in terms of prop odds, in my opinion.

Brad Marchand prop: Over 2.5 SOG (+105 at Bet99)

Prop bet #3: Oettinger's outs

Despite finishing first in the West, the Dallas Stars find themselves in a 2-0 hole heading to Vegas for Game 3 tonight. Jake Oettinger has not done enough to help his team win and the worst part is he hasn’t even been busy.

The Vegas Golden Knights have managed just 41 shots on net through two games with Oettinger posting a brutal .850 save percentage. The Dallas goalie is not a lock to finish this game if things get ugly early as head coach Peter DeBoer could pull the starter in an effort to motivate his tender and the group.

However, even if he does play and finish the game, his Under 25.5 saves at -105 still looks great considering the volume Vegas has been shooting and how elite Dallas was at suppressing shot attempts during the regular season. They ranked fifth in shot attempts allowed/60 at 5-on-5.

Dallas could also come out flying in desperation mode and actually play like the No. 1 seed, which should tilt the ice in their favor and help minimize Vegas' possession and ultimately shots on net.

I see more outs for Oettinger’s Under 25.5 saves than I do his Over and at -105 for 25 or fewer, that’s my favorite prop in the late game. Both offenses are deep and it’s hard to target just one skater on either side.

Jake Oettinger prop: Under 25.5 saves (-105 at Bet99)
