Jakob Chychrun leads the Washington Capitals in shot attempts and should have ample opportunities against a Seattle Kraken team ranking 31st in shot suppression against defensemen.

Jakob Chychrun ranks 10th among defensemen in shot attempts per minute. He will have ample opportunity to fire against a Seattle Kraken team that ranks second in shots conceded to defensemen per game.

Chychrun headlines three NHL player props for today's three-game slate.

Let's dive deeper into my full list of NHL picks for Sunday, Oct. 11.

Prop pick #1: Jakob Chychrun Over 2.5 shots

Novig probability: 52%

I’m playing Jakob Chychrun for 3+ shots to 55%.

He leads the Washington Capitals in shot attempts with 27 through four games, seven more than the next-closest player.

Chychrun is consistently one of the most efficient shot generators at his position at 5-on-5 and is also seeing more power-play time than anyone but Alex Ovechkin.

The Seattle Kraken rank seventh in 5-on-5 events, creating a pace-up spot that boosts Chychrun’s shooting floor and ceiling.

Seattle is also dead last at limiting shots from the left and middle points, where the bulk of Chychrun’s volume comes from.

  • Matchup: Seattle Kraken vs. Washington Capitals

Prop pick #2: Shayne Gostisbehere Over 1.5 shots

Novig probability: 53%

I like Shayne Gostisbehere for 2+ shots to 57%.

He’s off to a strong shooting start, attempting at least five shots in all six games. That was a sweet spot for Gostisbehere last season, as the Carolina Hurricanes defenseman recorded 2+ shots on goal in 76% of games in which he attempted five or more shots.

The Philadelphia Flyers are winless to start the season and rank dead last in shot suppression, allowing 36.8 shots on goal per game.

They’re also 29th in limiting shots from Gostisbehere’s primary shooting zone at the left point.

  • Matchup: Carolina Hurricanes vs. Philadelphia Flyers
  • Time: 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Location: Xfinity Mobile Arena, Philadelphia
  • TV: SN+, ESPN+

Goal scorer pick: Pavel Dorofeyev

Novig probability: 40%

Pavel Dorofeyev has consistently outperformed his expected goal totals throughout his career, thanks in large part to a 14.5% shooting rate.

This season, however, the New York Rangers forward has converted just 2.65 expected goals and 23 scoring chances into one goal, resulting in a 5.3% finishing rate.

The important thing is that the opportunities continue to be there, and that should remain the case against the Vancouver Canucks.

Only the Flyers — who have lost each of their first six games — have allowed more expected goals, and it’s showing on the scoreboard. Vancouver is surrendering 4.83 goals per game.

  • Matchup: Vancouver Canucks vs. New York Rangers
  • Time: 6:00 p.m. ET
  • Location: Madison Sqaure Garden, New York
