The Montreal Canadiens (65%) will look to get back in the win column as they host the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, Oct. 10.
My Red Wings vs. Canadiens predictions expect the Habs to grind out their first win at Bell Centre in 2026-27, with Chris Kreider and Cole Caufield playing their parts.

Red Wings vs Canadiens prediction: Under 6.5
Predicting the Under doesn't necessarily mean I expect another subpar offensive showing from the Montreal Canadiens.
This matchup has cashed the Under in four consecutive games, including all three last season. The trainwreck Detroit Red Wings have scored three or fewer goals in three of four games this season, and two of their last three at Bell Centre.
I'm a bit surprised by the 6.5 line, as three of the last four meetings have cashed the Under at 5.5.

Red Wings vs Canadiens combo
Chris Kreider has begun his Canadiens tenure gracefully with four points through four games.
The former 50-goal man has slotted in on the team's first power-play unit in the absence of Ivan Demidov. It's only a matter of time before one of the NHL's best power-plays gets rolling in 2026-27, and the veteran gets involved.
Alex DeBrincat may be better-known for his scoring ability, but the three-time 40-goal scorer has notched a helper in three straight games and in six of his last 10. He leads the Wings with five points and recorded a career-high 44 last season.
Noah Dobson has been a welcome addition on the Habs' blueline, but the lack of offensive opportunity playing behind Lane Hutson is becoming apparent. The Prince Edward Island native has points in just two of his last 10 games and has just a lone assist through four games this season.
Red Wings vs Canadiens combo
- Chris Kreider 1+ points
- Alex DeBrincat 1+ assists
- Noah Dobson Under 0.5 points
TOP PICK
Red Wings vs Canadiens player prop: Chris Kreider 1+ points
Kreider's four points through the first four games of 2026-27 trail only Nick Suzuki among Habs players, and he's been gifted a massive opportunity on the team's top power-play unit, replacing the injured Demidov.
Kreider has 26 points in 34 career games against Detroit. He's been extra-effective against them in recent years with seven goals and nine points in his last 10 meetings.
Red Wings vs Canadiens goal scorer: Cole Caufield
It's Cole Caufield's favorite day of the week.
Mr. Saturday Night paced the league with 21 Saturday goals in 2025-26 and got on the board a week ago against the Penguins. He has 64 goals in 104 career games on this day of the week, and has scored in a higher proportion of games (52.2%) than any other player since January 1.
