Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm saves his best for when he faces the Mammoth, and we're getting a great price for the blueliner to get a single point tonight at the Delta Center.

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm brings his A-game whenever he faces off against the Utah Mammoth, and I’m expecting that trend to continue tonight.

I explain why the blueliner can continue that trend with my Oilers vs. Mammoth predictions and free NHL picks on Tuesday, April 7.

Oilers vs Mammoth prediction

Oilers vs Mammoth best bet: Mattias Ekholm Over 0.5 points (+150)

The Edmonton Oilers are 5-0 against the Utah Mammoth since the relocation from Phoenix, outscoring them 27-10 in those meetings.

Connor McDavid is a big reason for that success, of course, but the quiet killer in this matchup has been Mattias Ekholm, who seems to turn into Evan Bouchard when these teams face off.

Due to this, I believe he’s pleasantly mispriced in this matchup at +150 to go Over 0.5 points. Plus, he's averaging more than 20 minutes per game, adding opportunity no matter who Edmonton's playing.

Ekholm has eclipsed this number in four straight meetings against Utah, totaling eight points in those outings

Oilers vs Mammoth same-game parlay

We’ll keep with the offensive D-man trend and bet on Bouchard getting an assist tonight. The Oilers blueliner leads all NHL defensemen with 87 points, 67 of which have been helpers. He’s also registered 1+ assists in 15 of his last 20 games.

The Over is 4-1 in the last five games between the two clubs. The total has also gone Over the number in six-straight Utah games. Given both teams’ defensive struggles, this has the makings of a no-defense, all-offense type of game.
