Photo By - Imagn Images. Edmonton Oilers center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (93) is seen on the ice as the Edmonton Oilers take on the Detroit Red Wings.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is enjoying a monstrous bounce-back campaign, averaging more than a point per game after producing 49 in 78 games a season ago.

My Oilers vs. Flames predictions expect Nugent-Hopkins to pick up where he left off and capitalize on an advantageous matchup coming out of the break.

Let’s break down my NHL picks for Saturday, December 27.

Oilers vs Flames prediction

Oilers vs Flames best bet: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Over 0.5 assists (-105)

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has played seven games against teams that rank Bottom-10 in preventing goals this season.

He found the scoresheet in six of them, assisted in five, and averaged a whopping 1.4 points per game.

Two of those seven games came against tonight’s opponent, the Calgary Flames. Nugent-Hopkins absolutely feasted in those contests, combining for four points in total.

That kind of production has almost become the norm for Nugent-Hopkins. He has piled up the points with Zach Hyman healthy and skating on his opposite wing, with Connor McDavid at center.

Nugent-Hopkins has averaged 1.2 points per game – most coming by way of assist – when skating on a line with that duo.

Sharing the ice with Leon Draisaitl, who sits second to only McDavid in points this month, on the top power play also helps his cause for producing offense.

The Edmonton Oilers have scored more than four goals per game with their four big forwards healthy and in the lineup.

Playing on the No. 1 line and power play, RNH has understandably factored into a lot of them. There’s no reason to expect different in Calgary.

Oilers vs Flames same-game parlay

Zach Hyman rides shotgun with RNH on the top line and No. 1 power play so there is great correlation between the two. Hyman has seven points through five games against Bottom-10 defenses.

He has also averaged 1.3 points per game this year with Draisaitl, McDavid, and RNH all in the lineup.

The Oilers are 9-3-1 with their four star forwards healthy and eight of those wins were by multiple goals. They score at a near unmatched rate and make it almost impossible for teams to keep it close when they’re on their game.
