The Seattle Kraken and New York Islanders meet at UBS Arena in Elmont, NY on Tuesday night.

The Kraken, first place in the Pacific Division, picked up a 4-1 win on New Year’s Day at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle in the first meeting of the season against the Islanders.

Seattle lost in its most recent road game in Edmonton,, but it became the first team in NHL history to win every contest on a seven-game road trip from January 3-14, so it is very comfortable playing away from the Pacific Northwest.

The Isles picked up a 2-1 win in Philadelphia on Monday night behind Semyon Varlamov, and now face a quick turnaround against a tough opponent on home ice.

Will the visitors continue to be road warriors? We’ll discuss in our NHL betting picks and predictions for the Kraken vs. Islanders on Tuesday, February 7.

Kraken vs Islanders best odds

Kraken vs Islanders picks and predictions

Seattle has had a ton of success against Eastern Conference teams lately, going 1-2-1 in the past four games against Western Conference teams, but 8-1 in the past nine tries against Eastern foes.

Lately, the Kraken has had to do without the services of All-Star Matty Beniers, who was knocked out of the game on January 25 against the Vancouver Canucks due to an upper-body injury. He is expected to miss at least one more week.

Seattle is averaging 3.6 goals per game, which is No. 5 in the NHL, but Beniers being sidelined has had a negative effect already. The Kraken have 2.5 gpg in the past two games since losing their star rookie.

Philipp Grubauer is expected to get the starting nod for the Kraken, and he enjoyed his most impressive month of the season in January. He allowed just seven goals on 116 shots in four starts, posting a 2-1-1 record, 1.72 GAA, and .940 SV%, helping Seattle cash the Under in his past three outings.

The Islanders will counter with Ilya Sorokin, after Varlamov shut down the Flyers yesterday. Sorokin blanked the Detroit Red Wings last Friday before the break. The Under cashed then, and it is 6-3 in his past nine starts.

New York has scored two or fewer goals in eight consecutive games, but it has still won three in a row, outscoring the opponents 6-2 during the win streak. It’s all about defense, it’s all about goaltending, and it’s all about the Under lately for the Islanders.

My best bet: Under 5.5 (-105 at PointsBet)

Kraken vs Islanders moneyline analysis

The Kraken picked up the 3-1 win behind Grubauer last time out against the Blue Jackets, and he is finally going well after some early-season struggles. It’s good news, as Martin Jones needed a breather after doing a lot of heavy lifting and getting a bit spent in January.

Seattle has dominated on the road lately, winning seven straight games away from home, while cashing in 11 of the past 15 games overall.

Perhaps the only thing that will cool off Seattle is the All-Star break itself, as the Kraken are just 4-10 in the past 14 games when playing on three or more days of rest.

The Islanders scored the 2-1 win over the Flyers Monday, coming out of the All-Star break basically the same as they entered it. Defensive, goaltending, and timely scores are the name of the game for New York.

The Isles are just 4-10 in the past 14 games overall, but 8-3 in the past 11 games against the Pacific Division.

While New York has been shaky on offense lately, and Seattle has been good on the road, the Kraken will adjust without Beniers. It’s best to shy away from the line, and look to the total instead.

Kraken vs Islanders Over/Under analysis

The Kraken have been thumping the Under lately, going 14-5-3 in the past 22 games against the Eastern Conference, while cashing at an 8-1-1 clip in the past 10 games inside the Metropolitan Division.

Again, without Beniers, who has managed 17 goals with 36 points, including four power-play goals, the Seattle offense has been a shell of itself lately.

For the Islanders, it’s all about the Under. The Under has cashed in four straight games overall, while going 8-3-1 in the past 12 games against teams with a winning overall record.

The Under is 5-0 in the past five games for the Islanders against the Western Conference, too, while going 8-2-2 in the past 12 games at home. In addition, the Under has gone 3-0-1 in the past four games when playing on no rest.
