The Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers both tend to play a lower-event, defense-first brand of hockey.
My Flames vs. Flyers predictions expect the two sides to lean into that approach in the latter half of a back-to-back.
Let’s take a closer look at my NHL picks for November 2.

Flames vs Flyers prediction
Flames vs Flyers Best bet: Under 5.5 (+110)
The Calgary Flames have both done a much better job of limiting chances of late. They rank second in expected goals against and fourth in shot share at 5-on-5 over the last 10 games.
They're not giving up much in terms of quality while spending more time in the offensive zone than in the defensive zone. Encouraging signs.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Flyers rank third in 5-on-5 shot suppression and fifth in expected goals against over the same period.
They also sit 32nd in pace, playing a slower, more methodical and structured brand of hockey than most teams. That should also lend itself to plenty of low-scoring games over time.
Both teams used their starter for Saturday’s game but each was pulled, leaving some doubt over who will get the nod in this contest.
Even if it’s the backups, the Under should be in good shape. Philadelphia has scored 11 non-empty net regulation goals over its last five, while Calgary has scored three or fewer in eight of the past nine.
Flames vs Flyers same-game parlay
Blake Coleman has registered multiple shots in 11 of 13 games this season. He's played at least 16 minutes in all but one contest, which proved to be a sweet spot for him last year. Coleman cleared this line 70% of the time when logging 16 minutes or more.
Owen Tippett is Philadelphia’s go-to shooter, pacing the team in shot attempts per game. He’s done his best work at home, averaging 3.4 shots on goal through eight contests.
