The Montreal Canadiens will visit the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final tonight, looking to stave off elimination.

My Canadiens vs. Hurricanes props believe Alexandre Carrier and Jakub Dobes will do everything they can to force a Game 6. My NHL picks for Friday, May 29 will also back a Canes defenseman that's been soaring under the radar this postseason.

Game 5 Prop #1: Alexandre Carrier Over 2.5 blocked shots

Alexandre Carrier has 22 blocked shots over his last five games, smashing the Over in each. He leads all defensemen in blocked shots over this span by a mile (or about 1.6 kilometres).

He blocked an astounding seven shots in Game 4 as Carolina continues to pester the Habs' goal. He's blocked more shots this series than the Carolina's top two defensemen combined.

The -145 range is as low as I'd go on this prop.

Game 5 Prop #2: K'Andre Miller Over 0.5 assists

K'Andre Miller has racked up an assist in back-to-back games and now has at least a helper in eight of his last 11 games, dating back to Game 2 of the first round. No other player has picked up an assist in more than six games during that span.

In fact, he trails only Lane Hutson in assists among defensemen remaining in the postseason, and leads all rearguards in assists per game.

He's priced at plus-odds despite emerging as one of the Hurricanes' biggest offensive threats on the blue line. I'd go all the way down to -110 here.

Game 5 Prop #3: Jakub Dobes Over 29.5 saves

Jakub Dobes has been a busy man this postseason, and even more so this series. The Czech product, who turned 25 on Wednesday, has averaged 31.3 saves per game against Carolina.

Despite the Canes leading 3-0 after two periods in Game 4, they continued to pester the young netminder, racking up 20 shots on goal in the final frame.

He's comfortably hit the Over in each of the last two games, making 76 total saves. He'll once again be a busy man tonight at Lenovo Center, so I'm backing this prop to -140.
