Devils vs Oilers Prediction, Picks & Same-Game Parlay for Tonight’s NHL Game

Connor McDavid has been relatively quiet in the last few games, but that shouldn't deter prospective bettors from targeting his goal market. A soft Devils defense will open things up for the Oilers superstar tonight in Edmonton.

Connor McDavid indicated before the season he’d like to be more of a scoring threat, and he has kept true to his word, potting 30 goals in 50 games.

My Devils vs. Oilers predictions expect him to find the back of the net against an inconsistent New Jersey team playing in a road back-to-back.

Let’s dive into my NHL picks for Tuesday, January 20.

Devils vs Oilers prediction

Devils vs Oilers best bet: Connor McDavid anytime goal (+100)

Connor McDavid has gone absolutely bananas the last two and a half months, piling up 27 goals over 36 games since November 4. Only Nathan MacKinnon (28) has more.

No. 97’s scoring spree is no fluke. He has generated opportunities like no other player, leading the NHL in expected goals and scoring chances.

He finds himself in a five-game goal drought despite creating 19 scoring chances, more than all but Zach Hyman among the Edmonton Oilers. The puck just hasn’t gone in.

McDavid has a nice matchup to change that tonight. The New Jersey Devils have played at the league’s sixth-highest pace over the last 10 games, which perfectly suits McDavid.

They rank 26th in expected goals against at 5-on-5 and dead last on the kill during that time. Limiting chances has been a challenge, and McDavid is as likely as anybody to take advantage.

Facing Jake Allen could be beneficial as well. He’s had a tough time making big saves of late, ranking 39th among 42 eligible goaltenders in high-danger save percentage since the holiday break.

McDavid sits second in high-danger chances over that time. He should have plenty of chances to exploit Allen’s recent struggles.

Devils vs Oilers same-game parlay

Jake Walman has produced at a healthy clip since joining the Oilers, tallying 20 points through 36 regular-season games. He provides some real pop from the backend and was promoted to the No. 1 power-play unit in Leon Draisaitl's absence.

Jack Roslovic is another player benefiting from a larger role without Draisaitl. He logged 16+ in both games thus far, combining for eight attempts while tallying multiple shots on target in each.
