The Chicago Blackhawks host the St. Louis Blues in the evening game of Wednesday’s TNT doubleheader.

Chicago is in good form, and my Blues vs. Blackhawks predictions expect this trend to continue.

Read on for my NHL picks for Wednesday, January 7.

Blues vs Blackhawks prediction

Blues vs Blackhawks best bet: Blackhawks moneyline (+110)

The Chicago Blackhawks have won three straight, with each victory coming against teams that currently hold playoff spots. At +110, it is worth taking a shot on Chicago to extend that streak to four as it faces a struggling St. Louis Blues offense.

St. Louis ranks last in goals scored per game, a trend driven by several factors. First, the Blues struggle to generate shot volume, ranking last in shots on goal per game.

Second, even when the puck reaches the net, it is rarely from high-danger areas, as St. Louis ranks last in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60). Finally, the Blues have also struggled on the power play.

St. Louis ranks 23rd in power-play percentage. Meanwhile, Chicago outranks the Blues in each of those four categories.

St. Louis’ offensive woes will likely continue against goaltender Spencer Knight. Over his past two starts, Knight is 2-0 with a .915 save percentage and a 2.40 goals-against average.

There may not be two better scoring candidates than Tyler Bertuzzi and Teuvo Teravainen, who have carried the Chicago offense in Connor Bedard's absence.
