Texans vs Chiefs Weather and Odds: Houston, We Have a Cold Problem
Beating the Kansas City Chiefs is hard enough, but with low temps expected on Saturday afternoon, the Houston Texans may have bigger issues to deal with when it comes to putting forth their best effort.

The Kansas City Chiefs own home field through the AFC playoffs. That means teams visiting Arrowhead Stadium not only have to combat the reigning Super Bowl champs on their own turf in front of the loudest crowd in the league but also battle the chilly climate in Kansas City.
That edge comes into play in the Divisional Round, with the Houston Texans coming to Chiefs' Kingdom for a cold weather welcome on Saturday, January 18.
Here’s the NFL weather report for Texans at Chiefs and how the elements could impact the NFL odds and your picks and predictions.
Texans vs Chiefs weather
The current NFL weather report for Saturday’s 4:30 p.m. ET start calls for temperatures in the low 20s with the mercury dropping as the sun goes down over Arrowhead. Those temperatures will “feel like” 10 degrees in the second half.
Sustained winds of 10 mph will blow NNW with some models calling for gusts up to 27 mph, moving end to end. That could make longer field goal attempts a challenge from those teams kicking into the breeze. Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn sees his FG percentage slump from 89% inside to just 83% in outdoor games this season.
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has also seen a notable dip in his production when going from indoor venues — like NRG Stadium — to open-air games. His average yards per attempt, completion percentage, and passer rating are far worse compared to his output indoors.
This total opened at 42.5 and is down to 41.5 at most books.
