Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears continue to gain steam, and we expect them to take advantage of a cupcake matchup against New Orleans as they return home to Soldier Field.

The Chicago Bears look for their fourth-straight win as they welcome the 1-5 New Orleans Saints to Soldier Field on Sunday.

Chicago is coming off back-to-back last-minute wins, but my Saints vs. Bears predictions are betting on an easier victory this time around.

Here are my early NFL picks for this Week 7 clash on October 19.

Saints vs Bears predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Saints vs Bears spread pick: Bears -5.5 (-108)

-108 at FanDuel

The Chicago Bears are rolling, having won three in a row, and they now return to the Windy City for their first home game since September 21.

It's worth noting that this Bears team could easily be 4-1 both straight up and against the spread if they hadn’t collapsed in the fourth quarter of their season opener.

Chicago's defense looked like one of the worst in the league at the start of the year, but it improved with top linebacker T.J. Edwards and corner Kyler Gordon returning to the lineup for the Bears' 23-22 win over Washington.

Their offense is also trending in the right direction, with Caleb Williams showing more consistency and running back D'Andre Swift coming off his best performance of the year

The New Orleans Saints entered this year expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, and they have done nothing to dissuade that notion. They've gone 1-5 and rank just 30th in the league in DVOA.

Quarterback Spencer Rattler put together the best game of his pro career in Week 6, and the Saints still lost 25-19 to the Patriots at home.

New Orleans fell by double digits in their two previous road games this year, while the Bears are 6-3-1 ATS at home since the start of last season.

Early Saints vs Bears total pick: Over 47.5

-105 at FanDuel

The lookahead total for this game was at 45.5 and reopened at 46.5 on Tuesday morning. It was quickly bet up to 47.5, and I'm following the line movement.

Chicago's defense has relied heavily on forcing turnovers, racking up a whopping 11 takeaways over the last three games. That isn't sustainable long term, and the fact that they are dead-last in the league in yards allowed per play (6.5) is worrisome.

Rattler is coming off an impressive performance where he completed 76.9% of his passes for 227 yards with a 93.2 offensive grade per PFF. Alvin Kamara should also be able to pick up yards on the ground against a poor Bears run defense.

That said, the Saints are 28th in the league in both defensive DVOA and defensive dropback EPA. They'll struggle against Williams, who is building chemistry every week with sophomore WR Rome Odunze and rookie Luther Burden III

The Bears' offense was able to move the ball against Washington on MNF despite some brutal calls against them by the refs. They should have success through the air, even if D.J. Moore is unable to play.

Saints vs Bears odds

  • Saints vs. Bears spread: Bears -5.5
  • Saints vs. Bears moneyline: Saints +205, Bears -250
  • Saints vs. Bears Over/Under: 47.5
