Rams vs Jaguars Predictions - Early Picks & Odds for Week 7

Neither the Rams nor the Jaguars are afraid to play a hard-nosed brand of football. Our early NFL betting picks expect points to be precious in this overseas tilt.

The storied Wembley Stadium in London will play host to the Week 7 matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars, and my early NFL picks and Rams vs. Jaguars predictions have you covered for the action.

A pair of winning teams with postseason aspirations will hit Wembley on Sunday, October 19, and I’m expecting the Jaguars to hang around and cover the number in a low-scoring game.

Rams vs Jaguars predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Rams vs Jaguars spread pick: Jaguars +3

I lean to the Jacksonville Jaguars in this tilt because the Los Angeles Rams are expected to be without go-to wide receiver Puka Nacua (ankle), and his absence will make the Los Angeles attack far less dangerous.

Nacua was pacing the NFL in targets and PFF receiving grade heading into Week 6, after all.

Game planning for and matching up against the Rams is far easier without him, and I’m anticipating the Jacksonville defense keeping the Jags in the game Sunday afternoon in London.

The Jaguars have been solid enough on that side of the ball considering their tough opening schedule, too. They’ve allowed the fifth-lowest EPA per play, after all.

Additionally, Jacksonville is far more accustomed to playing internationally. The Rams haven’t played in Europe since 2019, while the Jags have played annually across the pond since 2013 — except for 2020, of course.

For comparison, Jacksonville has played 13 international games since 2013, and Los Angeles has played three.

Early Rams vs Jaguars total pick: Under 45.5

The Rams have been a defensive juggernaut, and as noted, the Jaguars have done well enough on that side of the ball, too.

Los Angeles has surrendered the third-fewest yards and fourth-lowest EPA per play while allowing the third-fewest points per game (18.3). Additionally, without Nacua, I expect Rams head coach Sean McVay to lean on the rushing attack even more in Week 7.

The Jaguars have shown signs against the run, too. They’re above average in yards per attempt and run defense DVOA while also allowing the second-lowest rushing success rate.

Additionally, a quick peek at the Los Angeles schedule showcases a pair of wins (14-9 in Week 1 and 17-3 in Week 6) bookending the ledger, which reinforces the McVay led Rams are comfortable playing a low-scoring brand and leaning on their strengths. I expect a similar, low-scoring result in this Week 7 tilt.
