Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.
Early Raiders vs Chiefs spread pick: Chiefs -10.5
The Kansas City Chiefs have played one of the hardest schedules in the NFL this season, and they’ve narrowly lost several tough matchups. Despite sporting a record just one game ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders, the Chiefs are the far better team.
Las Vegas sports the 12th-worst point differential at -7.6 points per game, while Kansas City has the eighth-highest point differential at +5.1. The Chiefs are consistently outscoring opponents or playing them tight, and I expect them to crush the Raiders in Week 7.
Kansas City’s defense has been great this season, allowing the 11th-fewest points to opponents at 20.7. The Chiefs D held the Detroit Lions — widely considered one of the top teams in the league — to just 17 points in Week 6.
Playing at home and coming in with momentum on their side, I expect the Chiefs to win and cover this big spread. A divisional win will put them closer to the top seed in the AFC West.
Early Raiders vs Chiefs total pick: Under 45.5
This isn’t a crazy high line, but it’s unreasonable to expect that the Raiders and Chiefs will combine for at least 46 points on Sunday.
The Raiders sport one of the worst offenses in the league, averaging the third-fewest points per game (17.2).
Kansas City’s offense could find success against a below-average Raiders defense, but I’m not expecting Las Vegas to find much breathing room against a strong K.C. defense.
Add in Kansas City’s homefield advantage, and you’ve got a recipe for a low-scoring game. The Raiders are 2-4 to the Under this season, and they’ve scored single-digit points twice.
