Lions SNF computer picks

Jared Goff Under 242.5 passing yards (-115)

Computer projection: 239.5 passing yards

Jared Goff was excellent last week, with Dan Campbell taking over the play-calling duties in Detroit. The problem is that success came against the Commanders, who look like one of the worst defensive units in the league at this stage of the season.

Goff now faces an Eagles defense that completely shut down the Packers' passing game this past Monday night. Philly allowed Jordan Love to pass for just 176 yards.

Out of the gate, I’ll agree with my computer friend and take the Goff Under.

Jahmyr Gibbs Over 60.5 rushing yards (-115)

Computer projection: 62.2 rushing yards

Gibbs is heating up, averaging 101 rushing yards per game over his last three contests.

The Eagles, meanwhile, have a middling rush defense. They haven’t let any backs run wild on them this season, but cracking the 60-yard mark has been relatively easy.

Here is a list of notable running backs who have found solid success against the Eagles’ stop unit this season:

  • Josh Jacobs: 74 rushing yards
  • Cam Skattebo: 98 rushing yards
  • JK Dobbins: 79 rushing yards
  • Bucky Irving: 63 rushing yards
  • Kyren Williams: 94 rushing yards
  • Javonte Williams/Miles Sanders combined for 107 rushing yards

I’ll again agree with the computer, as we both like the Gibbs Over.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Over 73.5 receiving yards (-114)

Computer projection: 75.9 receiving yards

The Lions and Vikings have a similar cache of weapons on offense. In Week 7 against the Eagles defense, Minnesota had two receivers go over 73.5 yards, with Jordan Addison posting 128 yards and Justin Jefferson 79 yards receiving.

Philly does a nice job of not letting opposing star receivers go crazy, but — like Jefferson did against Philly — St. Brown should be able to rack up 75–85 yards receiving.

Once again, the computer and I agree. We’ll take the Over.

Sam Laporta Over 37.5 receiving yards (-114)

Computer Projection: 45.1 receiving yards

The Eagles' defense has done a fantastic job on tight ends this season. The only TE to surpass 50 receiving yards against them this season was Travis Kelce in Week 2.

Philly’s stout defense against TEs should continue against Detroit.

For the first time this week, I’ll disagree with my bot pal. Give me the Laporta Under.

Eagles SNF computer picks

Jalen Hurts Over 203.5 passing yards (-114)

Computer Projection: 204.2 passing yards

The Lions currently rank second in Def Passing DVOA. Hurts has finished Under 203.5 passing yards in five of nine games this season, including the past two weeks.

The computer has Hurts barely going Over the 203.5 number, but I like the Under.

Saquon Barkley Under 70.5 rushing yards (-113)

Computer projection: 67.9 rushing yards

Detroit is nearly as strong against the run as it is against the pass, ranking eighth in Defensive Rushing DVOA.

As great as Barkley is, this number stands out as very high. Barkley has gone Over 70.5 yards in just two of nine games so far this season.

The computer and I both prefer the Barkley Under.

DeVonta Smith Over 56.5 receiving yards (-109)

Computer projection: 60.7 receiving yards

Smith shows up against strong defensive competition. His two best receiving yardage games this season came at the expense of the Broncos (114 receiving yards) and the Vikings (183 receiving yards).

It just so happens that the Broncos and Vikings are currently top-10 teams in fewest passing yards allowed this season.

The computer and I are really on the same page this week. We both like the Smith Over.

Dallas Goedert Over 36.5 receiving yards (-115)

Computer projection: 38.9 receiving yards

Detroit's pass defense is somewhat vulnerable against tight ends.

Zach Ertz had 54 receiving yards against the Lions this past week.

Tampa Bay tight end Cade Otten led the Bucs in receiving against Detroit in Week 7, and Travis Kelce paced the Chiefs in Week 6.

Goedert should be able to eclipse 36.5 yards with ease.

Once again, the computer and I agree. This was, by far, the most agreement we’ve had all season.
