Kyler Murray's status for Week 6 against the Indianapolis Colts is up in the air.

The Arizona Cardinals franchise quarterback suffered a foot injury in last week's loss to the Titans. He briefly left the game after suffering the injury in the third quarter, but returned and finished up the contest.

However, his progress throughout the week hasn't been encouraging, and he's listed as questionable for Sunday.

I break down how Murray's status is affecting the NFL odds for the Cardinals, and let you know how you should bet if backup Jacoby Brissett replaces him in the lineup.

Is Kyler Murray playing on Sunday?

Kyler Murray missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday with a foot injury but returned on Friday in a limited capacity. He's been officially designated as questionable.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said Friday “we’ll see how it goes” in the next couple days with the questionable players. When asked what he want to see from Murray specifically, Gannon refused to answer.

Sportsbooks seem optimistic about Murray playing since they have player props available for him. However, backup Jacoby Brissett took the majority of reps with the starting receivers and told reporters that he is prepared to start.

The Cardinals are currently 7-point road underdogs against the 4-1 Colts. If Murray suits up, this line should shift below the key number of 7, while it could push to +8 if he's confirmed out.

Kyler Murray's season-to-date performance

Murray hasn't quite lived up to lofty expectations after being taken with the first pick in the 2019 draft.

That said, he's still a good starting QB who completed 68.3% of his passes for 962 yards with another 173 yards on the ground through five games this year. More importantly, he's gone 33-18-2 ATS (64.2% cover rate) as an underdog in his career.

Who do I bet on if Kyler Murray doesn't play?

There's obviously a drop-off from Murray to journeyman Jacoby Brissett. That said, Brissett is a capable veteran who has been in this spot many times in his career.

Over the last five years, Brissett started 21 games with Miami, Cleveland, and New England. His teams went 7-14 SU and 9-11-1 ATS in those 21 starts, and he averaged 209.2 passing yards per game.

If Murray is confirmed out before kickoff, we should see a drop in the receiving yards market for Marvin Harrison Jr., whose O/U is currently sitting at 53.5 yards.

That would be a good opportunity to back the Over on Harrison, since Brissett is a capable passer and is expected to play with a negative game script. Indy has also allowed the sixth-most receiving yards to wide receivers.
