49ers vs Giants predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early 49ers vs Giants spread pick: Giants +3

-110 at FanDuel

The New York Giants are a field-goal underdog at home against the San Francisco 49ers, and +3 is a number worth taking.

San Francisco found out that Christian McCaffrey can’t do everything all the time, and they may or may not miss Brock Purdy for the fifth consecutive game, while Mac Jones has been inconsistent at best.

The 49ers offense is struggling to convert yards into points efficiently, needing 17.7 yards per point, while the Giants defense is stout in yards allowed per point at just 14.9.

New York’s defensive front is generating pressure at 3.0 sacks per game and has forced 15 takeaways, which could and should create opportunities for short fields for the offense while limiting scoring for the 49ers.

On the other side, the Giants’ offense has been inconsistent but should manage enough clock behind rookie dual-threat quarterback Jaxson Dart to keep the game close.

With San Francisco favored by just three, I’m leaning toward taking the points and the Giants.

Early 49ers vs Giants total pick: Under 45.5

-110 at FanDuel

Expect a low-scoring, tightly contested game.

Both teams feature highly efficient defenses that limit points despite allowing yards. The Giants allow just 14.9 yards per point, while San Francisco allows a nearly elite 16.1.

San Francisco’s offense is sluggish without Purdy, and Jones struggles to convert yards into points efficiently, needing 17.7 yards per point.

The Giants’ front seven is generating pressure, averaging three sacks per game and forcing 15 takeaways, creating short-field opportunities for their offense and halting opponents.

New York’s offense can manage the clock and grind out drives on the ground, while the 49ers’ revolving QB situation may stall in red-zone situations.

All signs point toward a game dictated by the defenses, making the Under a solid early play.
