It’s Week 4 of the college football season, and that means things are starting to get serious. We’ve got a lot of conference and regional matchups between traditional powerhouses, which means opportunities to combine action with good, competitive football — always a winning combination.

I see a few games on the schedule that are tightly matched, and some where I think the college football odds are undervaluing the slight underdogs. Meanwhile, I’m looking at the Alabama Crimson Tide and their quarterback issues as a target for a same-game parlay as they take on the Mississippi Rebels this week.

Read on to learn how I’ve put together a couple of parlays for Saturday in my free college football picks for Week 4.

Best college football parlay Week 4

Clemson moneyline

Notre Dame moneyline

When the Clemson Tigers opened their season with a shocking 28-7 loss to the Duke Blue Devils, head coach Dabo Swinney called it “the weirdest game [he had] ever been a part of.” It might sound like excuse making, but it’s pretty true when you take a deeper look. Two fumbles at the 1-yard line and two blocked field goals turned the game on its head, while Clemson moved the ball much better than Duke throughout the game.

Since then, Clemson has eased to wins over two overmatched opponents in the Charleston Southern Buccaneers and the Florida Atlantic Owls. They’ll have a much tougher time on Saturday against the Florida State Seminoles, who enter undefeated as the No. 4 team in the country. But Florida State showed its own vulnerability last weekend, winning 31-29 as a four-touchdown favorite against the Boston College Eagles.

Meanwhile, there’s an even bigger game in the Midwest, where the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish host the No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes. Neither team has faced a challenge yet this year, though Ohio State’s offense was contained by both the Youngstown State Penguins and the Indiana Hoosiers. Meanwhile, Notre Dame has yet to be held below 40 points in four games this year, including in its only competitive matchup against the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

In both cases, oddsmakers expect close games. But while I’d rate both of these game as tossups, Ohio State and Florida State have been made slight favorites. I’ve given reasons above why both underdogs can win outright, and there’s great value in each case. Even better, we can combine Clemson and Notre Dame into a parlay with a huge return should it pay off.

Mississippi +7.5

Jalen Milroe Under 194.5 Passing Yards

I’m hardly the first genius to ask this question, but when was the last time we were this uncertain about Alabama’s quarterback situation?

Nick Saban has named Jalen Milroe as the starter this week, but we have to wonder if he’ll be on a relatively short leash in what should be anything but a walk in the park against Mississippi on Saturday.

Mississippi is 3-0 on the year, having won each of its games by double digits and covering in all three matchups. That includes an impressive 37-20 win on the road against a talented Tulane Green Wave team coming off an 11-2 record last year.

This is not a team to be trifled with, and with Alabama struggling to score even against the likes of the South Florida Bulls, I like taking the Rebels and the points here.

Alabama’s offense might be a bit better with Milroe back behind center after he didn’t play against South Florida. How much he can improve the unit against a solid SEC defense is another question entirely. While Milroe looked better than the other options in a strong performance against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, he struggled against the Texas Longhorns, throwing two picks in a 34-24 loss.

I’m not entirely convinced Milroe will play this whole game, especially if the offense sputters in the first half. But even if he does, there’s no guarantee Alabama will want him to — or the Rebels will allow him to — throw enough to get above his 194.5 passing yards total. In what should be a close game, Saban might rely on his running game, so I’m taking the Under on the Milroe passing yardage prop to finish off my SGP.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
